Yea, in all probability he'll sign a new contract at more than what he is earning now. However, the new contract will insert a buyout clause of between 6 - 8 million euros so Roma dont lose out completely when Juve swoop for him next season. And Juve ensure that there wont exactly be a line up of teams vying for his services since he wont be available on a free either.

Wow, it sounds as if you are helping write the contract.

A year and a half ago we were supposed to get Stankovic in January as well, don't be surprised if Cassano gets nicked by another club in the same way.

Lets not forget though, Stankovic chose the money. Cassano is going to choose peace of mind.

Cassano set for extension Thursday 8 September, 2005

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Antonio Cassano is on the verge of signing a contract extension at Roma, the Serie A club have confirmed.

The enigma’s future has been in serious doubt over the summer given that his present deal expires in 2006.

But after his much anticipated transfer to Juventus failed to materialise, talks did resume this morning between agent Giuseppe Bozzo and club officials.

"AS Roma and Bozzo confirm that talks, in which administrator Rosella Sensi and Antonio Cassano were also present, regarding an eventual contract extension resumed today," a statement read.

"The player’s gesture, who wanted the meeting to demonstrate his desire to stay here over the next few years, was greatly appreciated by the club.

"Both parties have the same desire to find an agreement and we will meet up again in the next few days."

Negotiations over a contract renewal had previously stalled given the difference between Roma’s financial offer and Cassano’s demands.

However, whispers in the peninsula on Thursday suggest that the attacking talent has lowered his asking price.

The player is now allegedly looking for a five-year contract worth around £14m in total, while the Olimpico outfit don’t want to offer him more than around £12m.

An agreement is expected to be reached soon, which should allow Cassano to play regularly again for the side in World Cup year.

The former Bari youngster, signed for £20m, may now make his Serie A debut this term against Udinese on Sunday.

i think he'll sign a contract with them IF roma agree a buy out clause in it which'll allow cassano to leave next year.
cassano probably doesnt love the roma colours anymore,he just wants regular top flight football in order to make it to the world cup.

Roma 'terminate' Cassano talks
Saturday 15 October, 2005
Antonio Cassano’s rapport with Roma has truly broken down, as the club confirmed today it would not hold any more contract negotiations.

“I will not meet Cassano or his agent any more,” stated Giallorossi director Rosella Sensi on ‘Radio Radio.’

“The negotiations are terminated. We made an impressive proposal, but he did not give us an answer. Our tolerance in this matter has reached its limit.”

Cassano’s current deal expires at the end of the season and it’s reported he was offered a new two-year contract, but the player was unhappy with the proposed terms.

With the possibility of losing him on a free transfer in June rapidly approaching, it looks almost certain now that Roma will aim to sell the Italian international during the January transfer window.

Several clubs, including Juventus, Real Madrid, Milan and Chelsea, have been linked with the player in recent months, but his favoured destination would be with former Roma Coach Fabio Capello in Turin.

“We want to keep Cassano and there is no ultimatum,” insisted Sensi in a bid to calm the tension. “We made him an important offer, as only Francesco Totti would have higher wages at Roma.”

He had already been frozen out of the squad earlier this season for refusing to pen a new contract and this latest setback could put him back on the sidelines.

“I never said he wouldn’t play, but we do need people who are focusing on football rather than contracts. Luciano Spalletti will make a decision based on those factors.”

Spalletti was eager to toe the party line on this issue in his Press Conference today. “I need to have a meeting with the club. If Sensi said these things then there will certainly have been a reason and I will stick with Roma on this.”

Forza Cassano. He will join Juventus, it is his destiny :D
Zlatan, Trezeguet, Mutu, Cassano.

Pretty good group of forwards ;)

After breaking the goalscoring record, Alex will most likely move to another team, perhaps in EPL.

I think this is what Moggi was waiting for. Now, in January they'll have to sell him on our terms. So that could mean giving in Chiellini in a straight swap if Moggi negotiates well enough or maybe a couple of million euros on top of that. Mutu hopefully, will be out of that equation.
