Real Madrid chairman Florentino Perez postponed all possibilities of an Antonio Cassano move from Rome to the Spanish capital to next summer.
“The last time we heard Roma with regards to transfer market activity was last summer when we bought Samuel. We have a great relationship with Roma, its management team, and the Sensi family. With regards to Cassano, we will eventually deal for his signature next year, now there are competitions taking place,” said the Real Madrid chairman.
Perez had announced last week that Real Madrid were not going to buy any players during the January transfer window as ‘it’s a Real policy not to sign players during the year.”
Cassano was already linked to Real Madrid last summer, however back then Roma were not ready to sell their 22 year old player.
Things are different now, as after months of various fits and misbehaviours on behalf of their ‘Peter Pan’, the Roma management appear resigned to the fact that Cassano’s era with AS Roma is over.
Chelsea, Juventus, Inter, and Milan have all been indicated as other possible destinations for Italy’s best player in Euro 2004.
