S6 easily, i had a G3 best bazels in the 5.5inch market but such a lousy battery and G4 has an even worse battery autonomy and bigger bazels, LG should be ashamed by themselves for making such a step back. If you insist on LG, better check the flex 2, the Poled screen is amazing and the 1080p guarantees the 810 can perform without overheating, if you try the flex 2 with the latest updates, you will have a smooth nexus like experience. And the battery also survives longer, G4 wins only in camera.
The S6 on black friday will be the option, it is the fastest phone and the best camera, you can buy, its compact enough so that it will never upset you and despite the tiny capacity of the battery, it lives longer than most of the guadHDs out there.

Personally, i had enough with phablets, i upgraded to a Z5 compact and will never look back. You really never need to go beyond 320 ppi, battery capacity and autonomy beat the need for 2mm thickness less in my books. And there is no other option out there in these dimensions with such a camera, 32internal+sd, such battery capacity and over 60k in antutu benchmark. I ve tested besides a S6 and the S6 heats significantly more, thats my only real concern on S6, Samsung have created the 810 hot-gate, to promote their own exynos on the S6, but if you compare the 810 on a 720p screen and their exynos on 2.5k, the 810 is faster in games, menu and apps and the exynos is getting much much warmer.

The industry is misleaded atm, the chase for 7mm thickness and 2.5k resolution is moving against battery capacity and against performance, the 9mm and 1080p of the previous generation was better, now there is just a race for impressions, rather than substance.
I can afford a tablet (actually i have 3) and a flagship and i am willing to pay the same flagship premium price for a compact phone, as long as it has flagship specs,
so the Z5 compact is the only option in tghe market for me.
i cannot live with 16GB on paper internal space and without an sd option, that is the reason i had to move away from the G2, one of the best mobiles ever made!
But for anyone coming from a 5inch phone and thinking to upgrade, be advised not go over 14cm height, 7cm wide and 150 grams in weight, because you might find your self wanting to upgrade rather sooner, that would you expect.

And finish my rant, whatever you dont ever ever consider the nexus 5x,its taller than G3, but it only has a G2 screen and despite the bigger dimensions, it has a smaller bettery capacity, a bettery that cannot be replaced and in France for examp!e the 32gb version is going to cost a flagship price, despite the many compromises and the cheap nexus moniker.
As for the 16gb without sd card expansions, it is only viable if you have an unlimited data plan and at least 4G coverage in your region, smth extremely rare outside the US and where there is, the required monthly fee is so high, that it ensures that the customer can easily afford the extra cash needed for the 32gb version.

btw while i mostly agree with your remarks, i'd say the new sonys are just too expensive. fortunately i could afford most phones (except vertu & co), but i'm not willing to pay 6-700 euros for a mass product with a product cycle of half a year (sony's refreshment cycle lately for the z series). i'd also prefer the z3c to the z5c: the z3c looks better, has a bigger battery, it's considerably cheaper, has also plenty of raw power, an mhl connector, and honestly, i don't care about fingerprint sensors and all that fancy stuff in a phone. i also have my dslr, so having a relatively good camera in any phone is not a selling point for me.

so i turned to chinese phones a year ago, bought a then-flagship model, and i'm pretty happy with it. i got good software support (certainly better than my previous sony or any samsung i've had), good community, surprisingly great build quality, decent battery life, basically all my needs are fulfilled. i also bought a mid-range model for my girlfriend, and that works like a charm, too. meanwhile a local company has started providing service support for the brand, so i'm not worried about sending the phone back to china for service. i'm glad i didn't spend twice as much on a samsung/sony/iphone/whatever. my only complaint is the lack of mhl connector, which would be useful to connect my phone to my car stereo, so i might head back to an a-brand phone next time, but it is a pleasing experience anyway.

Waiting on mine should be here second week of november!
I'm tempted to get one. The only reason I need a new phone is a faster camera. Trying to click my sons picture is a lost cause with my Nexus 5. I've been thinking of switching to the dark side only for the camera experience. I won't have to, if I get the 6p.

I'm looking for a new phone. I currently have an Xperia M, which is okay but I can't transfer apps to the microsd and the camera is absolute shit. Despite being a semi-shit phone I've had it for two years now.

Anyways, what would be a good budget phone? I'm looking to spend USD 250-300 (American price).
