I do believe in God but certain things the church and all other religious institutions feed you is too exagerated in my opinion.

*cough*
Can we PLEASE do not involve God to every single conversation here? :)

Vit I don't think you can talk about the meaning of life without involving a God discussion. The two things are related or so thought to be.

Not just religious people. As the meaning of life leads to the path of questions of 'where did we come from?', 'who created what?', etc...

Maybe if we try and find the answers of our past we would be able to find the answers to our future.

I agree with Zlatan: that depends who you talk to.

And I just think we invloved God to so many discussions already, that it would be at least interesting to see, if we are able to talk about things without including God.

Technically we are animals....but we have bigger brains (though we still only use 15% of its potential).
but do you think animals will ever be able to get as far as we did?

@Zizou: Yes, it eventually goes down that road. But if the question is who made what, then who mad God? if we take it for a fact that nothing can exist just by itself withouth being created, then how come God exists? And religious people usually pull "the God is almighty, logic rules dont apply to him", then why the hell would it be impossible for life, earth, the stares, space, the universe to simply exist? Could it not be that there is no God, but that everything is God. That the universe is infact one big living creation breeding life forms on it's surface and balancing things? I personaly dont believe it, I'm simply using it as an example.

    @Lac: No, no essential differences.

@Vit: Yeah, it was OK IMO. That Raskoljnikov dude is waaaaaaaay crazy :D

They can because we did. We are animals. We made it so far. therefor, yes, animals can make it this far.

so disregarding evolution- which has not yet been proven, you think that given enough time animals will be able to form a government, develop effective communication, make technological advances, and maybe advance enough to have a culture of their own? fashion? music? etc?

Hmm...looks like the meaning of life has to either do with God, or is not a real issue as we are just a fluke.

    I don't subscribe to either I'm afraid

What if there is no God (or at least not one as defined by recognised human religions) but there is an order to the universe where nothing happens without a reason for doing so?

I believe there is something guideing us, or at least set the ball in motion to begin with, but I don't know for what reason, nor how it will all end:confused:

It's difficult for someone like me to accept that God put us here to worship him and keep busy and look after earth and be nice to each other and blah, blah blah......no, that's not me. But I see too many special things to accept it's all an accident.

One thing I do know...better people than I have asked the same question, and ended up in loonely bins trying to figure it out

Yes, because we did. That is my whole point. We did it. Because we're animals, thats proof animals can do it.

BTW, what do you mean evolution has not been proven??
