According to German and Dutch reports, City is close to signing Nigel de Jong (HSV) for 20m euro's 
. He's a decent player, but that price is way too high for him especially since his contract is expiring next year. HSV doing a good job to get as much money as possible, not that it's that difficult though.
Aside from the prestige and all, what will the profit be for the owners? If they'll spend like 200 million every year and pay sky high salaries, will they ever make a profit? I dont see them winning anything important in the next 10 years. The owners could easily be bored with it after a few years and sell the club. I feel sorry for the real fans of the club.

p.s galliani says his reason in considering the bid is because of the credit crunch, but didnt he say a couple of months ago that the credit crunch was not going to affect Milan or serie A for the matter?

Real Madrid match Kaka offer?
Real Madrid are reportedly ready to match Manchester City’s offer for Kaka, so he could force Milan to wait until the summer.
Rossoneri general manager Adriano Galliani had refused to part with the Ballon d’Or winner when Real made a reported £80m bid last year, but times have changed.
“The world is now worth half of what it was a year ago,” he warned after last night’s 1-0 win over Fiorentina.
“I have the same feelings as the fans and love this club, but as general manager I have to keep sentiment and reasoning together.”
Milan are eager to cash in on Kaka, but Manchester City do not provide a draw for the player, as they are unlikely to qualify for the Champions League for at least another year.
The News of the World now claims that Real Madrid have told Kaka’s father and advisor Bosco Leite that they would match the £100m transfer fee.
The real difference would be the wages, as they could not hope to equal the £500,000 per week proposed by City, but that would be cancelled out by the prospect of football at the highest level.
However, as Real Madrid are without a President right now after Ramon Calderon resigned this week, the deal could not be done until the summer.
There could be one sticking point, as it is reported in Italy that Milan are only ready to sell to Manchester City because they are seen as 'harmless’ in the race for top European honours.

rain? rain would be improved weather in manchester, its like a hurricane every day with people speaking a completly different dialect of english to the rest of the country other than liverpool, it is like Torino but with english people and more rain

I doubt this. First of all, buying Milan was a much better business because they were just as popular as Inter, but they were at least 10 times cheaper than Inter and it was much easier to buy them. The Moratti's were never going to sell Inter anyway.
And if only an Inter fan could possibly want to buy Inter, does it mean that only a Milan fan could possibly want to buy Milan? Do you see any sense in Inter fan buying Milan and making it the most successful team in international club level?
Berlusconi is primarly a businessman and he used Milan in his political career. But if he is a football fan then he's a Milan fan for sure. And everywhere i read about his childhood it's mentioned that he was a big Milan fan as a kid, just like his father who had taken him regularly to Milan matches on Sundays.
And if only an Inter fan could possibly want to buy Inter, does it mean that only a Milan fan could possibly want to buy Milan? Do you see any sense in Inter fan buying Milan and making it the most successful team in international club level?

Seriously I dont know why some people are bitching about Kaka & its negative effects on Serie A if it happens.Serie A & La Liga have lost ground on the EPL due to poor marketing,sub standard broadcast quality(as to epl),pathetic commentators & the biggest factor is the language issue.
If one visits Juventuz.com you could see its riddled with numerous spelling errors & way too much focus on Italian speaking fans.Most fans abroad cant speak the language of their favourite foreign team & thats why the EPL does well to an extent as English is a universally spoken language..The english commentary on Serie A games is like bloody cricket test commentators.No excitement & terrible knowledge of the clubs,players,stats & records.
The EPL has done extremely well over the last couple of years to create a very strong brand,hence tycoons wanting a piece of the action.Lega Calcio needs to get back to basics if it wants to compete with the EPL IMO.

top post there alen, people here have very short memories and go on about buying up players "not being Juve" bollocks! we were always a wealthy club,w e always bought up the best talent in serie a and i see no reason why we won't do that in the future. buffon,thuram,nedved,zebina,emerson,etc were ALL bought from rival clubs as have a lot of our legendary playershell not even delpie is a product of our youth system,but these folk have some romanticised version of history where we use the talented youngsters in our first team and din;t sue them as make-weights to get rival clubs best players
