Juventus’s needs (within the coming 2 years and depending on chosen or adopted system of play):

4-4-2:

A new LM/LW: (To replace the ageing/retiring Nedved) *****

A new RB: (To replace the somewhat inconsistent Grygera and Injury Prone Zebina) ****1/2

A new RM/RW:(To replace the Injury plagued and ageing Camoranesi) ****

A new CB: (To support Chiellini and potentially replace Legrotagglie, while allowing Ariaudo and Crsicito the opportunity to develop further) ***1/2

A new Striker: (To potentially replace Trezeguet) ***

4-3-1-2:

A new AM: (To fit into the new system and take over playmaking duties) *****

A new CM: (To support the existing setup) ****

A new RB: (To replace the somewhat inconsistent Grygera and Injury Prone Zebina) ****

A new CB: (To support Chiellini and potentially replace Legrotagglie, while allowing Ariaudo and Crsicito the opportunity to develop further) ***1/2

A new Striker:(To potentially replace Trezeguet) ***

The number of asterisks obviously indicates the weight of importance, while the provision for 2 different formations takes into account the possibility that Ranieri may not be here beyond the following season, depending on results and the situation with the Board of course. I leave it up to you guys to propose a finalized list of players, hopefully realistic targets.
not bad, welcome to the borads. :pint:

Wasn't it Panucci himself who said a few years ago that he will never ever play with Juventus?
I think he did but some people can change their minds. I don't think he'd join us now just for the fact that he wants to start. Meeelan could buy him and shove that becerano :p Zambrotta on the left.

Thanks JCK and Mark ;)

As for Panucci joining Juve, I vociferously protest @ the notion itself. I mean the guy is a disruptive influence, and if he has the audacity and arrogance to demand a starting shirt @ 35, imagine what damage his attitude can incur upon our squad harmony?

We need a world class RB, a Nedved replacement or AM if Ranieri chooses to be flexible and change his formation (which I highly doubt), and a CB to partner Chiellini. If we manage to get 1 WC player to fill the LM/LW void or AM position, in addition to 2 quality guys for the respective positions of CB and RB, then there is no reason why we can't compete on all fronts next year, seeing as how our youngsters are developing.

agreed, i remember the uproar on these boards when we were linked with stankovic but at least he is somewhat more the team player. panucci is an arrogant prick and would certainly disrupt our squad harmony.

he could easliy slot into milans youth system

i cant understand how roma are letting panucci... i remember the first few weeks this season when he used to be their top and only scorer :D
I'd choose Panucci over the guys we have anyday... isnt he a free agent?
Why are they letting him go?

It would be so smart to get a 35 years old player who should just retire.
Indeed.

Panucci can play as a CB too... he can replace anybody and he is class.. guaranteed class, and cheap.. very experienced on both club and nation levels. Great at defense and upfront.
Are you kidding me?

He's one of the worst defenders nowadays. He's too slow and he sucks when he plays on as a right back but he isn't much better in center. He's 35 years old and uber slow.

Roma had very important match yesterday and Spelletti told him that he'll be benched...and did you hear about his reaction? He didn't want to sit so he was watching it from the stands in the end.Well you know what, fuck that attitude. What was he thinking? To play instead of Mexes or Juan? :howler: We don't need him at all since Ariaudo is better and as a RB Grygera is much better.

Thanks JCK and Mark ;)

Panucci is more than ok if he signs a 6 month deal with us. He can't play in CL so we could use him in serie A and Coppa. With Zebina and Knezevic injured he'll make a perfect 4th choice CB and 2nd/3rd choice RB.

As for the Nedved comparisson. Panucci is a year younger, but what's more important is that as a CB he's not required to run up and down all the time and to make many sprints. That's why he, and other CBs, could last longer than the wingers.
But i'm not a fan of signing him for the next season also. Either sign him only till the end of this season or don't sign him at all.
He sucks as center back...simply,he sucks.

I don't know how can anyone want him...if I was in Roma's place I'd pay to get rid of him.

Panucci is a hell of a player. He is a savior, a glorious beacon of light and hope, and at only 35 years of age, he would be a steal. I mean, even Milan would want him in their squad brimming with youthful exuberance, so we should definitely poach this precocious young talent before they steal him from under our noses like they did with the all dominating Flamini and the world conquring Mattioni.

Ribery would be a dream but Bayern will not be selling him, least of all to us, but I would settle for Silva or Diego (depending on the formation we will be utilizing next year), a versatile right back who can double up as a RW/RM (Eoue? Sagna?Anyone else), and a strong, pacy CB with impeccable positioning (Zapata? Sakho?). If we maange to have a transfer market as I listed above, we could be set for fireworks both on the domestic and regional front come 2010.

At this point I think I'd prefer Sakho over Zapata.

Zapata looks injury prone and I think Sakho got more potential. He would be a great signing. One year loan and he'll be rotated with Legro and replace him later. Not to mention he'd be at least 6mln euros cheaper.

My guess is that Ribery would cost 30M euros if we convince Ribery to join us
Bayern would ofcourse try to prevent this but if we get Ribery to decide he wants to leave Bayern than I don`t think Bayern can do much about it

Indeed, Ribery MUST force his way out and protest, leave trainings etc, for them to sell him for just 30, not that I think he will cost much more. But 30m is just 3m more then what they bought him for.

Btw, Its open season on Gourcuff, Bordeux confirmed they will buy him for 14m in the summer. Nothing Milan can do about it. He is in ze market from now on

Ancelotti has basically semi-insulted Gourcuff in his latest comments about him, and been quite cold, so there is little to no hope for Gourcuff choosing Milan when Bordeaux bid on his clause fee.
