To be fair, Viola's Mercato wasn't a a complete joke as people here make it look like by constantly mentioning our very own Almiron.

Jovetic, Melo and Gilardino can hardly be considered as failure... specially the Serbian, he is one of the very very best talent I've seen during the last few years.

especially Felipe Melo...he may be a douchebag, but he's also a fantastic player

it wasnt a failure, but it wasnt a success either, other than gilardino they didnt really bring much experience to the squad that is still fairly premature

jovetic has yet to live up to expectations

melo - bit of a rough diamond still

gilardino - seems to be only effective alongside mutu

vargas - hasnt lived up to his price tag

Juventus’s needs (within the coming 2 years and depending on chosen or adopted system of play):

4-4-2:

A new LM/LW: (To replace the ageing/retiring Nedved) *****

A new RB: (To replace the somewhat inconsistent Grygera and Injury Prone Zebina) ****1/2

A new RM/RW:(To replace the Injury plagued and ageing Camoranesi) ****

A new CB: (To support Chiellini and potentially replace Legrotagglie, while allowing Ariaudo and Crsicito the opportunity to develop further) ***1/2

A new Striker: (To potentially replace Trezeguet) ***

4-3-1-2:

A new AM: (To fit into the new system and take over playmaking duties) *****

A new CM: (To support the existing setup) ****

A new RB: (To replace the somewhat inconsistent Grygera and Injury Prone Zebina) ****

A new CB: (To support Chiellini and potentially replace Legrotagglie, while allowing Ariaudo and Crsicito the opportunity to develop further) ***1/2

A new Striker:(To potentially replace Trezeguet) ***

The number of asterisks obviously indicates the weight of importance, while the provision for 2 different formations takes into account the possibility that Ranieri may not be here beyond the following season, depending on results and the situation with the Board of course. I leave it up to you guys to propose a finalized list of players, hopefully realistic targets.
