Juventus’s needs (within the coming 2 years and depending on chosen or adopted system of play):

4-4-2:

A new LM/LW: (To replace the ageing/retiring Nedved) *****

A new RB: (To replace the somewhat inconsistent Grygera and Injury Prone Zebina) ****1/2

A new RM/RW:(To replace the Injury plagued and ageing Camoranesi) ****

A new CB: (To support Chiellini and potentially replace Legrotagglie, while allowing Ariaudo and Crsicito the opportunity to develop further) ***1/2

A new Striker: (To potentially replace Trezeguet) ***

4-3-1-2:

A new AM: (To fit into the new system and take over playmaking duties) *****

A new CM: (To support the existing setup) ****

A new RB: (To replace the somewhat inconsistent Grygera and Injury Prone Zebina) ****

A new CB: (To support Chiellini and potentially replace Legrotagglie, while allowing Ariaudo and Crsicito the opportunity to develop further) ***1/2

A new Striker:(To potentially replace Trezeguet) ***

The number of asterisks obviously indicates the weight of importance, while the provision for 2 different formations takes into account the possibility that Ranieri may not be here beyond the following season, depending on results and the situation with the Board of course. I leave it up to you guys to propose a finalized list of players, hopefully realistic targets.
Our team needs few more ******.

Sky Sports sources understand Juventus have made an approach to sign West Ham United striker Carlton Cole.

The former England Under 21 international has been in sparkling form for the Hammers of late after scoring five goals in six games.

He was linked with a move to Tottenham after Spurs boss Harry Redknapp missed out on a deal for Cole's former Hammers team-mate Craig Bellamy.

However, Cole is now wanted in Italy, with Juventus understood to have made an enquiry for the 25-year-old.

Juve coach Claudio Ranieri gave Cole his professional debut at Chelsea in 2002 and still appears to be a fan of the powerful front man.

Cole undertook loan spells at Wolves, Charlton and Aston Villa before leaving Chelsea on a permanent basis for West Ham in the summer of 2006.

During his time at Upton Park, Cole has scored 18 goals in 80 appearances and is a key part of Gianfranco Zola's plans.

Right

I am sick and tired of English sources linking second string English players to Juventus. The Serie A is not the EPL's trash can FFS.

WTF SERIOUSLY???? First they link us with Defool and now Carlton Cole!???

In all seriousness though this guy is the answer to our lack of goals this season, look how prolific he is, i mean he's scores 18 goals in 80 appearances for West Ham, 5 of them in his last 6 games. We really need a striker that scores a goal on average in every 5 games! Amauri and Treze's record of one in every 2 games pails in comparison!

i cant understand how roma are letting panucci... i remember the first few weeks this season when he used to be their top and only scorer :D
I'd choose Panucci over the guys we have anyday... isnt he a free agent?

we can make use of him as a short term player especially when we suffer many suspensions and injuries. He works in the center and on the sides and is still by all means better than our back 4 (with exception to chiellini)
If he would join juve for no fee (as his contract expires) and give him a small wage.. we could really make use of him for 1 maybe 2 years until we have enough funds to buy us a great young player in that position.
A short term solution that is cheap and more than adequate.

Panucci can play as a CB too... he can replace anybody and he is class.. guaranteed class, and cheap.. very experienced on both club and nation levels. Great at defense and upfront.
I'd say use him for 1 or 2 years the same way we are relying on most of the old guard until we find the perfect replacements.

Marco Motta is good and has potential.. i'd say we let him grow some more and let him actualize some of his potential before we buy him.

Nedved is 36 years old and people are asking for him to retire (and rightfully so). So what makes you think that Panucci would succeed here or get any playing time? I wouldn't sacrifice any of our players for a 35 yrs old Panucci. He'd be ideal for Milan though.

Panucci is more than ok if he signs a 6 month deal with us. He can't play in CL so we could use him in serie A and Coppa. With Zebina and Knezevic injured he'll make a perfect 4th choice CB and 2nd/3rd choice RB.

As for the Nedved comparisson. Panucci is a year younger, but what's more important is that as a CB he's not required to run up and down all the time and to make many sprints. That's why he, and other CBs, could last longer than the wingers.
But i'm not a fan of signing him for the next season also. Either sign him only till the end of this season or don't sign him at all.

I get that feeling too. Every time there is an average player in the EPL that plays in lower clubs there like west ham, bolton, wigan...They'll link them to top clubs in serie A.
