Lamine Sakho, the PSG player??

He's better as a centerback, he played leftback a few times because of injuries. He's very mature for his age and extremely strong physically too, he could have a bright future.

Sakho is better at LB or CB?

What about Traoré, any good? Never saw him play.
armand traore? i mentioned him earlier, still raw, slight upgrade to molinaro, makes a better winger

This might be offensive but balotelli for my supersub;) and kadlec for the future...
nazio stole balotelli when i tried to bid :( screw it, i still won the cl with notts county :)

molinaro is a natural winner of a pole (dancing competition), but that does not make him a good left back ... but the impression i get from the media is, if molinaro did cross as good as for example de ceglie does everyone (from the media) would consider him a world class fullback.

i have a little problem with wingers that play as fullbacks only to be considered great, because every dumb reporter whos favourite sport is cricket, things its all about attacking.

the best example when i was watching a game of chelsea and bosingwa was praised all the time even when he did shit at the back ... in fact he got praise for going forward, but these commentators did not mention one time, that every counter attack went on his side, because he just was not back there. he either dribbled into one man too much, did molinaro crosses (the one that end up behind the goal) or did dive and act as if he had an injury while his side was completely open for the opponent.
How many journalists, that write about football, have you come across that say they prefer cricket?

As great as cricket is, I would think that is rare.

I agree that not enough people judge fullbacks on their defensive capabilities, though.

This Zambrotta...yes, this 31 yo Zambrotta that is not the same player as he was prior to 2006/2007, is still a better player than Gael Clichy.

You guys are using one or two examples where he made a mistake and compare them to some matches where the Frenchman played great, and that's how you prove that Clichy is better.

Let me show you what are you doing:

Del Piero was awful against Bate in Borisov. He was shoting free kicks from 50m out of desperation. And what about that match against Romania at the Euro? He missed a sitter.
But Higuain...oh boy. Did you see him score 4 goals on one match? Did you see his goal against Sevilla on Sunday?
The old Del Piero was better than Higuain, but today it's another story.

I watched most of Milan matches this year and i believe i've seen 2/5 Arsenal matches. I can say with big certainity that Clichy still doesn't have anything on Zambrotta. The Italian still offers more both in defense and attack.
I can't believe how much you two overrate him.

And that's what they should be primarly judged on. There are wingers to do the job in attack but there is no-one else to cover for you if you leave your side open at the back.
It's nice to get a full package but defending always comes first to attacking if we're talking about a back player.

I quite agree.

That is partly why I rate Grygera higher than many people here, and I do not demand De Ceglie plays instead of Molinaro.

If your talking about this season, then its pretty close, i'd say Clichy is a bit better. But if we're talking about the whole year, then i strongly strongly disagree. Clichy has been much more consistent than Zambro who was average against Barca. Clichy was a beast throughout last season, and i dare you to bring me a game other than the Birmingham one where he played badly.

And like Osman said, why would his fellow colleagues rate him the best in the league if he wasn't so good, the fact of the matter was that he owned almost every right winger the EPL had to offer last season. And he wasn't too shabby in the CL either.

That was my main point. He did have a great season but that's it for now. He may be among the best or be the best one day (although i don't expect him to become one) but for now he's just a boy who had one single great season.
Apparently, for Osman it was enough to proclaim him the best LB in the world.

Just like Flamini was one of the best 3 DMCs in the world after a great season with Arsenal. If a poll in xtratime was started last year after Arsenal-Milan, Flamini would've been among the top3 DMCs.

The talent is there to be seen and most of the time 1 or 2 matches are enough to see if someone has the potential to be great. But it can be done with talents like Messi, Kaka or Ronaldo.
With guys like Clichy, who are only 23 and play LB, it's not all that easy to make a successfull prediction.
I predict he'll lose it as time goes one while you see him as one of the best. Now we can argue as much as we want but only time will tell.

Only time wont tell obvious crap like Grosso, Maxwell and such are NOT better then him. Only time will tell is such a copout most of the time, even if it can be valid too.
