"As published by Italian newpaper Corriere dello Sport, the following is a list of players who are still without a club and are available on a free transfer immediately :

Goalkeepers: Bucci and Manitta.

Defenders: Bertotto, De Rosa, Galante.

Midfielders: Appiah, Cesar, D'Aversa, Fiore, A.Fillippini, Gatti, Giampa', Giannichedda.

Forwards: Capparella, Recoba, Ronaldo, Vignaroli.

Notes (by E.Akoglu):

- Ghanaian international midfielder Stephen Appiah (27) left Turkish club Fenerbahce this summer with the desire to return to Italy, but he has not received satisfactory offers yet. He is an experienced central midfielder with great stamina, good vision and a tenacious attitude. Appiah is efective in both defensive and attacking duties.

- For many years, Italian defender Valerio Bertotto (35) has been one of the most consistent and versatile defenders in Serie A. He can play at right-back and in central defence and is comfortable in a three-man or a four-man defence. Bertotto has leadership qualities, excellent positional sense and a never give-up attitude. Formerly with Siena.

- Giuliano Giannichedda (33) is a solid and tough Italian defensive central midfielder with extensive Serie A experience. Last season he was in Livorno, but played only a few games due to injury. Now he is fit again and ready to compete.

- Uruguayan forward Alvaro Recoba (32) is a creative attacking talent who always lacked consistency, but his technique and speed are top class on a good day. He played for Torino last season on loan from Inter."
