hey, maybe he's doing what moggi used to do. have us linked with all the obvious targets, and then discreetly sign some quality player for cheap.
i am hoping for something like. for instance go to madrid and people will think he's gone for aguero and then the other clubs will bid for him, while he'll come back with maxi rodriquez. i did love to see maxi in juve. maxi's been playing great of late.

Wenger might be the best manager for youngsters on the planet. He's smart enough to keep the youngsters he wants for the future and not throw them away by loaning them out to random clubs. Juventus should study Wenger's methods and actually take chances on young players.

We could have signed Rosicky, Hleb, Ronaldo and Kaka, but the "genius" Moggi didn't want them for some reason. Shame. They're all better players than we currently have.

There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be looking into Modric either.
Yeah but on the other hand what has Arsenal won in the recent years? Nothing. I admire Wenger´s work there and I admire Arsenal´s football but their trophy cabinet is more or less empty in the last few years. That may change this year though but it just shows that we have to be very patient and wait for a long time until we become a force in Europe again. I am not sure if have that much time to spend and this I am not sure we should be following Arsenal´s example. Things will probably be clearer at the end of season.

Modric would be a great purchase. Fuck Gilberto, Sissoko, Lampard and the rest of central midfielders we are interested in. Modric would be the man and we would also get one sort of a handyman for the team in him. This boy will be big, maybe even in the rang with Diego and Van der Vaart after few years. He is already the main player for our national team together with Eduardo. Without him Dinamo Zagreb and Croatia would be jack shit. Wenger knows what he is buying. :agree:

P.S. Not to mention Modric would be waaaaay cheaper and waaaay easier to get than Diego and VDV.

Of course, knowing our board, we will see the apocalypse sooner than Modric in Juve.

i have never seen this guy. what kind of player is he? dribbler, playmaker, box-to-box player?
He is everything packed in one player. :D Diego who?

Diego Lugano is being linked with us again, personally from the very few times i have watched him he has been great! i dont know whether he could step up another level to become world class & future transfers should be made with the view of the player becoming world class (we dont have the funds to buy current world class players)
With Juve's current situation, he'd get a red every game he plays in.

I never said we should follow Arsenal's methods. Rather, I said that we should take notice of how Wenger invests in youth. The man is very good nurturing his youngsters along and implementing them to his side, plus he does take chances on them which is a risk you MUST take if you want to build a good side for years to come.

In regards to what Wenger has won, before Chelsea came to prominence Arsenal won quite a lot actually, although they did fall short to Barca in the Champions League. It's difficult for a side such as Arsenal to compete with the millions of Chelsea, and when the league is already so competitive you can't expect a title every season from Wenger. If things go his way this season, however, they might win the Premiership. So I don't exactly know why you're castigating Wenger's methods regarding the youth as it has worked without a doubt. He's damn good with them.

I have seen Modric play a few times and I agree, we should be mounting a bid for him.

Liedson to replace zalayeta

thats the price you pay for counting on youth..you get the odd 2 year transitional period from time to time.

In all honesty and objectivity, he's already in the ranks with Diego, perhaps a little lower than VDV. He's just not Brasilian.
No problem.

All he has to do is change his name from Modric to Modrichino and bam! his price, popularity and hype would go through the roof

I doubt it.

I'm sure our only winter signing will be a defender...and maybe just maybe (if the club takes an extra effort) a loan signing.
