1 or 2 it doesn't matter, I just believe that a shootout in a important final is no longer a football game, it's a game of chance where even the most reliable player can miss and they miss quite often. Those that have the guts to say to the coach: "I'll do it" and step up to take the kick are not the chokers, those that say "sorry coach, I just can't do it" are the true chokers.
Yea but on the other hand Trezeguet was a France hero in EURO 2000 final. When was Baggio a hero for Italy?
Neither was Trezeguet in CL 2003 final.
Yeah, I know. I wasn´t aguing with you in the 1st place. I was just clearing Trezeguet from the "choker" label. ;)
You people should hope that i dont coach Juventus during the time Trezeguet's still here.Because if i do,and if we end up in a penalty shootout,id send the guy straight to the shower and take the penalty myself:stuckup:

Penalties are all down to luck, some of the greatest players have missed a penalty, don't judge a player by his penalty stats but by his playing stats.
penalties are not luck, they are golden opportunities and making the most of them requires skill. i know that even the worlds greatest players miss pk's but thats like saying jordan and bird hitting clutch shots were pure luck -- being that legends are made and championships are won on big shots. whether or not that is a pk or a jump shot its still requires skill.

They aren't luck.

Luck is defined as: success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions

So, it's chance or luck if he makes or misses?

Ohh, he made it, good finish, good read, good idea to send the keep to the wrong side. Ohh, he missed, was luck, bad luck.

It's focus.

It's a skill.

If you are great at them, you make them 99% of the time.

The reason it is a penalty is that the keeper is at a disadvantage every time, meaning you SHOULD score every time.

It's a skill, not "pure luck".

I've never understood how people get so worked up over PKs. Like there is a huge amount of skill or luck involved. I mean there is skill as in shooting and generally the guy taking the shot is a pro at this skill. For someone to miss a PK, they have to be a real choke artist or they did it on purpose. It's so easy, I mean it has to be about equal with being a closer or a 1 inning reliever in baseball.

When I shoot a PK I go with force all the way (stam-wise) But with skill :D
If you place it with at least some power into one of the lower corners, there is no way a goalkeeper can get to it. No matter how much he hops around or spagetti dances or cheats off the line.

Thats risky if you ask me.

Whenever I try to shoot with force from a freekick or pk i simply loose my vision...

Though there's only one player i've seen taking a freekick with skill, vision and power and that is of course Juninho. He's out of this world when it comes to freekicks.

What do u guys think of Juventus signing Veron. I know that he currently isn't signed for any club. He is playing for an argentinian club but he doesn't belong to them. I would like to see Veron come and play and we wouldn't have to pay much for him and he would be better than Almiron for sure.
