now Blanc says about Canna that we took another road so...

just buy another good D , a mid with good feet, a backup keeper if Belardi leaves and a striker and I'll be happy. :D

100% agree..
BTW,i just remembered Chelsea is gonna have not only Alex but also Tal Ben haim..Doesn't this at least make one of their central defenders available now that they're trying to organize their money wiser..?
Is Boulahrouz really that bad,can Juve fix him..?

i see where you're going..but i dont think theres anyway they're going to let Carvalho go...he held the defence together when Cech,Terry and Cole were injured last season..IMO along with Carra and Vidic he was one of the best defenders in the league...And we all know Terry is impossible

Boulahrouz for me is a terrible defender..or at least thats what he was last season..he was a liability for them whenever he played..he just didnt have any good game other than the barcelona one.

whats your situation with gallas? i read in the daily express today that he may be looking for a move? i'd love to see him play for us, such a class defender.

pepe going to madrid for a crazy amount of money really opens the doors for us, it was one i was not expecting, it means 1 less team interested in milito, one less interested in heinze and also a good possibility of canna being on his way out, although i suspect he will just school pepe. it may also mean milito to barca and then marquez would be free to come to us! any other possible suggestions for our defence?

He's been shooting his mouth too much for my liking lately...even though what he's saying is the bitter truth....But i dont expect Wenger to sell him this summer..for a number of reasons..For one its the African cup this year..we're going to lose Toure and Eboue..so we need Gallas very much at that time of year..Secondly,our reputation is on the line here..we sold Vieira 2 years ago..we sold Henry this summer..and Fabregas is linked with a move away..so basically the reputation we have now is that we're a selling club.Thirdly..If Gallas goes this season..then i'm sure the other members of the squad dont want to be in a selling club while they're capable of going to big clubs...Fabregas and Van Persie for example..

Having said that...i wont completely write off Gallas leaving...as he's a prick and he might force a move away..

I would put Barzagli,Canna as probably the top two and then i'd say that there aren't that many other defenders who could be available to move to JUVE..I really can't think of any other players, i mean except for those who have been mentioned in a number of occasions;Meira,Boulahrouz,Burdisso,Cris,Luizao..
Thats about it..i really cant think of anyone else who are that good in cb..

Portieri: Buffon, Belardi, Vanstrattan
Difensori: Birindelli, Boumsong, Chiellini, Criscito, Grygera, Legrottaglie, Molinaro, Piccolo, Zebina
Centrocampisti: Almiron, Blasi, Camoranesi, Giannichedda, Marchionni, Marchisio, Nedved, Olivera, Salihamidzic, Tacchinardi, Tiago, Zanetti
Attaccanti: Del Piero, Guzman, Iaquinta, Palladino, Trezeguet, Zalayeta

these are the players showing up for pre season
weve already sold miccolli for 4.3 and kapo for 2.7...
there are 29 players on this roster and with andrade joining thats 30...i say try to cash in on some players for like 10-12 million extra and go for someone like van der vaart but if nedved stays id like to see that money invested in a solid dm like gilberto silva

cheers! :pint: fantastic post and thank you for the clarification, its always good to get an arsenal fans opinions on matters relating to them.

i agree with what your saying, its essential for your season that you keep your current players and add a few more especially considering the spending power of liverpool, man u and chelsea... even tottenham seem to have a greater budget than arsenal at the moment, its a real shame but unfortunately its the sad and sorry state of english football at the moment, its the only league where you can find teams in the bottom half e.g newcastle + man city with more finances than a fantastic team like arsenal.

but for some reason when i read the article today i got a feeling that he would be on his way out, and may even force himself out like he did at chelsea, and in my eyes juventus would be the perfect location for him as i cant see him moving to the other english clubs or any team in spain as they dont need defenders at the moment. I hope for our sake and yours that he leaves and joins us and then wenger can unearth another gem of a player ;)

thanks mate;)

I agree with you about the state of English football..most clubs are being bought by foreign investors which has given them a big financial muscle....and even though most Arsenal fans wouldnt agree with me on this..i really think we should sell to the yank..it might be the only way to survive with the big spending of the Mancs,Chelsea,Liverpool and the Spuds.and not get left behind.

As for Gallas...one part of me really wants to see the back of him....but the other part has the teams interests in mind and wants Wenger to convince him to stay.As for him going to Juventus...well the reason he'll leave Arsenal(if he leaves) is because he's 30..he doesnt have much time left and he wants to win trophies..the way i see it.Juve are in a rebuilding process themselves at the moment... IMO he's going to stay for one more year..

Juve have more chances of winning this year than Arsenal does
