The time has come for the club to spend big on quality midfielders and fullbacks in the market, if we are to close the gap on Inter and put up a challenge against Chelsea in the Champions league, no more signing unknown or mediocre players.

yes like big quality players are likely to leave at this time of the year, let alone being cup tied most likely so how will they make any difference on challenging for the cl?

mediocracy is not bad you know? maresca was never the greatest player ever but my god i would welcome him with open arms, quality DOES NOT = success

fighting spirit does, and Juventus = fighting spirit

just out of interest who do you actually think we can get in january?

Just how much do you think Juve have to spend?
Am not sure. But signing quality players in key areas would help, such as signing a playmaker in midfield, replacement for nedved and fullbacks. The midfielders signed in the past couple of seasons bar Sissoko have all been faliures, therefore have more or less been pointless transfers - waste of money.

Tiago
Marchionni
Almiron
Sahlimadzic
Poulsen

None of these players are/have exactly sight the club alight. The better quality player you sign the better chance he will of have of succeeding at the club, it's not exactly rocket science.

The massive error the club have made for the past couple seasons, is that they have been signing 2nd and 3rd rate players, hopefully they have learned thier mistakes, and will now rectify this by bringing in quality players.

But that does not indicate how much money Juve have to spend now, which is what I asked.

And only Almiron was a truly bad transfer of those you mention.

WHAT? AND YOU THINK ZANETTI HAS TOO? :inter:

quality doesnt equal success nor increase any chances of it, madrid and their galactico's proved it, mancini and quaresma proving it at inter, so what makes you think it will be different at juve? sissoko is hardly the most world class player in the world, hes a fantastic player yes, but not world class calibre. Tiago will prove himself, almiron is not even as bad as most make him out to be, to be honest i think he still has something to give, he proved it at his first pre season at juve, we just somehow need to adapt our style slightly to suit him, but he's far from a bad player, salihamzdic is a useful squad player to have, you can hardly expect a world class player to sit on the bench, whilst brazzo provides experience and versatility, and poulsen? you've hardly given him a chance to prove himself.

i disagree about the almiron part, he has the capacity to play for juve, showed it at pre season, but for some reason ranieri changed his style and what he required from him.
I don't think he is up to it. He hasn't exactly set the world alight at Fiorentina either.

I certainly don't think we should have gone for both him and Tiago.
