Yeah its a disgrace for you to compare Gerrard to Sissoko, the scouser doesn't even come close to our ninjaaaaaaaaaa. :D
:p

maybe he is comparing them in the sense of beying useful to the team..
Don't know what they have been thinking but I was talking as possible Nedved's replacement when we talked about Drenthe.

What are you talking about...why would you compare something like that

it's like comparing Sissoko and Gerrard. :shifty:
I thought first you were sarcastic, but if you arent, why not? They both are offensive midfielders. Even if one is a winger that hugs the lines, and the other a trequartista so to speak.

VDV is slower, but more creative and deadly for sure. He was the best player in dutch league when he was there, highest scorer and assisting etc, and similar performance in Germany, a leading player of the league. Drenthe has quick feet, but other then that, uneven comparison I would say.
My comparison didn't stem from comparing two similar players but from the fact that if we are to buy one player I'd take Drenthe. I feel he fits our system more and him being non proven is not a criteria I usually look at. Not every proven player succeeds anyway and many non proven players became stars.

Because as I said I was talking as possible Nedved's replacement and sticking to 4-4-2.

When and if Nedved retires I don't think we're going to buy someone like Van der Vaart as his heir.

Drenthe fits our 4-4-2 more yes, and yeah even if his talent is promising, I posted that because it sounded unnecessary harsh on VDV to prefer Drenthe over him.

He has shown he is clearly the more quality player (up to Drenthe to prove otherwise), even if VDV wouldnt be the ideal system for our rigid formation (though its not like he couldnt fit in if we tweaked it a little), was just saying that because you said it like Drenthe is better, didnt know you were thinking formation wise.

I was in no way underrating VDV, he is still one of the players I admire. I was even one of those shouting to sign him but then again I like how we play this season. The rigidity and direct approach is really the football that I prefer and Drenthe looks like the kind of player made to succeed in such a system.

I feel he fits our system more.
He's a dribbler who's pretty much poor at defending. He has a good long shot and not really special crosses. But sometimes he just looks headless which makes him look like an amatuer.

I can't really define him yet.I wanted him before but I guess he disappointed me in Real I guess.

Don't know...maybe De Ceglie/Drenthe rotation wouldn't be bad but I'm not sure if he's the right choice to buy and replace one of the our best players.

fyi ... our possible fifth our fourth striker (olic) just scored a brace against aston villa in uefa cup
They already denied those trash talks about Olić coming here.

Neither of them are good enough solution as starting left wingers for us, based on what they shown so far. The sooner De Ceglie plays LB permanently, the better, and Drenthe needs to get end product before we rely on him as a starter. Would like him as a squad player though.
