Being defeated by Germany in the semi-final is not a poor result. The fact you seem to hold C. Ronaldo responsible for the result of Portugal only says just how much of a player you know he is.
He is not responsible for the loss (in fact portugals keeper was the a joke on that day), but :

Isn't a good footballer supposed to change the run of a game ?
Isn't germanys defense consisting of international not really renowned players ?

What is your obsession with the word midget anyway? Do you have some sort of disorder you're a bit ashamed of? Let me assure you that most EPL defenders are not midgets.
midget regarding the ability to play football...

with a little more brain you could've read that out of the context, but u don't have to ... perhaps you are also a midget ... just in another way ;)

This season Ronaldo scored against, Sporting Lissabon (which for him ought to have been a very big game), Dynamo Kiev (which is Champions League and thus is the big level), Arsenal (you might find that they're not so big, but they did beat Milan you know), Dynamo Kiev again, Sporting Lissabon again, scored three against Newcastle (who really are chokers, but still have a very decent squad), another two against Newcastle and two days ago he scored the winner against Lyon.
oh, you're naming the who is who of world-football: kiev, newcastle, lissabon ... every player in the world wants to play for them because they got really great teams ...

sry, for me the clubs you mentioned are really not big clubs ... to score against lyon is somehow like to score against ajax or psv ... they dont play in a strong league

arsenal is a club i must admit would count ... so i guess yes, ronaldo did really score ONE goal against a good team ... what a performance ...
i'm full of everlasting unbendable neverending joy =)

what about chelsea or liverpool ? why isn't he able to score there ? perhaps because chelsea for instance has a keeper ...

so then feel free to tell me what would germany have gotten away with, without having their home supporters in large numbers ?

the german nationalteam is still as funny as the time they got beat in fiorentinas stadium 4-1.

do they have decent strikers ? klose and podolski ? omg ... u saw how good they were against italy ... a guy like bernd schneider who they call "the white brazilian" ... wtf ? this guy cant even do 2 stepovers and is more of a running midget on the flanks ...

very slow defenders (should have been a easy prey for c.ronaldo) ...

sry, but against all this hype here in germany i think they suck

they even had someone who cant play football, just because he is so fast (odonkor)

here in germany they say he was an athlete or sprinter or something and when he found out he was not competitive in this sport he tried kicking a ball or something ...
The key word here is "IF", fact is they had the home ground support and they were tough as hell.
You can question all the players in that team but fact is they are a very solid unit. They play as a team more than anyone and thats why they eased through their group in the qualifiers.

And that is without ballack, schneider, klose, and the sprinter you call odonkor. I didn't see much in david, and he proved me right when he moved to betis just to disappoint. He is was just a pleasant surprise in the wc opposition.

You brag yourself with your Italy but you forget that you needed the last game to qualify. The team has jokers like semioli, barzagli, zaccardo, gilardino, qualiarigla , and even palladino and you're bagging Germany.

These are only goals though. Ronaldo does much more than that. If you are saying Ronaldo is a choker and a lousy football player, you are obviously a midget with issues and poor vision.
Sporting Lisbon and Kiev big matches?? :howler:

I've heard it all.

So basically you guys are saying Champions League isn't big and EPL isn't big? That's great, fellows. If you can only classify a player as good if he scores five goals in every game he plays against Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Milan, Roma, Real Madrid and Barcelona: good luck.

Cristiano Ronaldo at this point might just be the best player alive. If you are so full of hate towards the EPL and Manchester United that your judgement is so clouded I feel sorry for you. That is, I would feel sorry for you if I were christian. But I'm not, so I just think you're morons and that we should fully dismiss whatever you might say in the future.

If this was directed at me.

1) I think Ronaldo is the best player in Europe this season, regardless of how well he's done against Arsenal, Milan, or Chelsea.

2) I dont hate the EPL, however i do hate Man Utd

3) I think the CL is big, but using Dinamo Kiev and Sporting to show how well Ronaldo does against the big teams is absurd and just shows how much of a Moron you are.

4) I hope a Christian hits you with his car and leaves you to bleed to death.

And the match against Germany was a match for the 3rd place, it wasn't a semifinal.
3rd place matches are always won by the less disappointed team. Quality doesn't count much in these kind of matches.

 Man calm down, no one is saying that the EPL is bad or not good enough. But everyone has his views on some players. I think that cristiano is a great player probably the best winger in the world at the moment. But is he the best player on the planet!! I would say NO. To me i think that kaka last year was hands down the best player in the world, messi is my favourite player and i think he deserves to be the best player in the world (unlucky with his injuries just like all the great players R). This year with kaka's performance and messi's injuries there is a big chance that cristiano would be chosen best player in the world but to me that doesn't mean he's the most talented player out there (but again thats just My opinion)........

if you love your EPL that much, then go on and marry it.... oh wait ... that's impossible... so get a life and stop calling others morons ...

i have nothing against the EPL or C.Ronaldo, i just think that C.Ronaldo has not proven himself "on the big stage" like others did before ... i'm thinking about ronaldinho quiet a while ago or zidane before that ... he is just a young entertaining kid that scores in a league where many goals are scored anyways.

it's the same thing with huntelaar ... just because you score many goals, playing in a team that is superior to the other leagues teams and also in a league that is pretty weak, does not mean he is the best player on earth ... i do not even bother try to evaluate what player on earth is the best, but one thing i know for sure ... c. ronaldo isn't the best;)

i am no kaka fan, but i must admit that he was really good last season ... he can decide games without this prettyboy flair stepovers and so on ... he just played really good football and also scored or provided assists without trying to show off.

so when you're not a christian, what are you then ? moslem ?

Or is it a new religion that calls everyone else "morons" ?

Juve's French Connection
Thursday 6 March, 2008

Juventus' scouts will travel to Marseille's Stade Velodrome to pass judgement on several potential signings on Thursday evening.

Marseille play Zenit St Petersburg in their UEFA Cup quarter-final and according to the club's website Bianconeri officials will be in the stands.

It is claimed that they are visiting to assess the talents of L'OM duo Samir Nasri [pictured], an attack-minded midfielder, and explosive Nigerian left-back Taye Taiwo.

The Corriere dello Sport today revealed that Taiwo has told the Old Lady he would relish the prospect of playing for them and hopes a deal can be sorted.

Nasri is interesting a lot of clubs, including Inter and Milan, but Juve have identified him as one of their top priorities for the summer transfer market.

The Turin club are also thought to be interested in Werder Bremen's Diego and Hamburg's Rafael Van der Vaart as they search for a fantasista for next season.

The Bianconeri are also keen to add another defensive midfield. After the relative failure of Tiago Mendes, Claudio Ranieri is eyeing Zenit's Anatoliy Tymoshchuk.

Lazio are also reportedly scouring France for players targeting midfielders Yohan Cabaye of Lille and Bordeaux's Rio Mavuba.

Doubts over Stefano Mauri's future have forced the Aquilotti to explore alternatives to increase their midfield options.

This season you cannot discredit Cristiano, even if you wanted to.
The guy scored 30 goals in 30 games FFS, who does that?
Scoring is not even his job, he's a winger. Big games - small games is a relative idea.
Not mentioning countless assists and set-ups. The guy is a phenomenon.

True Cristiano Ronaldo is really in a hot form this season, but before final judgement be done upon him - let us see if he moves to another club. I have the feeling that he will go to Real Madrid for a lot of money. Not to mention after their failure at the CL we will see them very active at the transfer window this summer. And for sure they would not be looking for Almiron kind of transfers. (Unless they appoint Secco as transfers manager which I would not wish even to Inter Milan)
One thing I do not realize is why people want small players for Juventus? Why do we chase Zapata? Very good, worth 20 mil Euros...I do not think so!
In my mind players we should be looking and paying this kind of money for are Diego, VDV and Aguero.
And what is with Lampard coming here? Are we adopting Milan's policy of experienced players? Is the best Blanc could do be to copy from the 5th in Italy?

Atletico Madrid might qualify for CL next year. Actually it seems inevitable. And if their crazy president is a fan of Tiago what are we waiting for?
VDV was really hot his last game in Germany. Either he is a stunning player or he is trying to catch sb's eye with games like that. Either way we should go for him. NOW.
Diego is yet another pain in the arse for our management. We like him, we do no like him. We want him, we do not want him... What is wrong with these people? They sound like a virgin girl before her first date.
Man I am not sure even about Huntelaar's quality in Italy. Yes he is good in Ajax, scoring a lot of goals...but not against Italian defenders, right? I would go for Aguero instead - if we play Barcelona in the CL and he does what he did in their last game - we could field 10 Zanettis(or Sissokos/Nocerinos for that matter) alongside him and still might beat them.
And why the hell we want to trade Paolo De Ceglie for Zapata?
