Formula 1 has lossed a big driver yesterday, but hopefully, Ferrari can stay on top now, were Schumi brought them.
Bye Schumi, thanks for everything you done for the sport.

 Grazie Schumi

Yesterday the greatest Formula 1 driver in history retired. He put in an amazing final drive, overcoming a qualifying disaster which put him on row 5. He was then further compromised by an "unlucky" puncture after a brush with Alonso's teammate. His efforts from that point on, 75 seconds behind P1, running dead last were nothing short of phenominal. His supreme will dragged his car up to 4th place, running out of laps in which to do more. His own great race was backed up by an error free, emotional home victory from his teammate Felipe Massa (a Ferrari driver not in red!) who led from start to finish, posting laps second only to the legend in the other Prancing Horse. A great day for Il Scuderia, an historic day for F1. Alonso & Renaults victories seemed hollow & insignificant, seen as both will be in far weaker positions next year, while the Red Machine rolls on, led by its new hero Massa. Raikkonen will have to be at his best to earn the right to be No 1 at Ferrari next year, both drivers inspiring each other, a bright enthusiastic future for the team & the entire Ferrari family - including us loyal & devoted tifosi.

Forza Ferrari
Ciao Michael, God bless you & your family.
Thanks for the memories

Well, I don't follow Formula 1, but I liked those facts about it:

'F1' is not only just 'F1'

F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, if it were assembled 99.9% correctly, it would still start the race with 80 things wrong!

When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences retardation or deceleration comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph!!!

F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph AND back to 0 in FOUR seconds!!!!! !!

F1 car engines last only for about 2 hours of racing mostly before blowing up on the other hand we expect our engines to last us for a decent 20yrs on an average and they quite faithfully DO....that's the extent to which the engines r pushed to perform...

An average F1 driver looses about 4kgs of weight after just one race due to the prolonged exposure to high G forces and temperatures for little over an hour (Yeah that's right!!!)

At 550kg a F1 car is less than half the weight of a Mini.

To give you an idea of just how important aerodynamic design and added down force can be, small planes can take off at slower speeds than F1 cars travel on the track.

Without aerodynamic down force, high-performance racing cars have sufficient power to produce wheel spin and loss of control at 160 kph. They usually race at over 300 kph.

In a street course race like the Monaco grand prix, the down force provides enough suction to lift manhole covers. Before the race all of the manhole covers on the streets have to be welded down to prevent this from happening!

The refuelers used in F1 can supply 12 liters of fuel per second. This means it would take just 4 seconds to fill the tank of an average 50 liter family car. They use the same refueling rigs used on US military helicopters today.

TOP F1 pit crews can refuel and change tyres in around 3 seconds. It took me 8 sec to read above point

During the race the tyres lose weight! Each tyre loses about 0.5 kg in weight due to wear.

Normal tyres last 60 000 - 100 000 km. Racing tyres are designed to last 90 - 120 km.

A dry-weather F1 tyre reaches peak operating performance (best grip) when tread temperature is between 900C and 1200C.(Water boils boils at 100C remember) At top speed, F1 tyres rotate 50 times a second.

I'm not normally a fanboy, whatever the sport, but Schumacher has been one of the very, very few sportsmen who could put my heart in my mouth, have me sitting at the edge of my seat. I'm going to miss him in F1 very much.

Ferrari have confirmed that technical director Ross Brawn is to leave the team following the end of the season. The Briton, who is widely credited for making the Scuderia a dominant force in Formula One, is taking a sabbatical from the sport.

"Ferrari offers its most heartfelt thanks to Ross Brawn and Paolo Martinelli for their immense contribution in the drafting of an extraordinary chapter in the history of the Scuderia and motor sport, which has produced a tally of 11 world titles and around 90 wins in Formula One Grands Prix" said a Ferrari statement.

Brawn's departure comes as no surprise, as it was an open secret that he would follow Michael Schumacher out of Ferrari at the end of 2006.

Another great loss to la scudiera, ciao Ross e grazie.

Changing the face of Formula One
By Simon Austin

As team principal of one of the biggest outfits in Formula One, Ron Dennis is used to getting his own way.

But the McLaren-Mercedes boss seems to be making a forlorn plea in asking the media not to "hype up" Lewis Hamilton ahead of his Grand Prix debut next year.

The 21-year-old was confirmed as McLaren's second driver, alongside double world champion Fernando Alonso, on Friday.

He will be the first black driver in Formula One and comparisons with Tiger Woods have unsurprisingly already been made.

Like Woods, 21-year-old Hamilton is a marketing-man's dream. He's young, articulate and good-looking, and could attract a new demographic to the white, middle-class world of F1.

The story of his rise could be straight from a Hollywood script. Even the normally unsentimental Dennis says it has the "attraction of being a bit of a My Fair Lady story".

The duo first met at an awards ceremony in London in 1995 when 10-year-old Hamilton made an immediate impact on the McLaren supremo.

"When I first met Lewis he was asking for my autograph," Dennis told BBC Sport.

"Unlike so many people, he looked me square in the face and informed me where he was going in his life.

"Without breaking eye contact, he told me how he was going to go about his career. It impressed the hell out of me."

Dennis remembered the meeting and signed Hamilton up to the McLaren development programme a couple of years later.

We don't hide from the fact he's from a mixed-race background, but it just doesn't matter

His rise since then has been inexorable. He won the British Formula Renault series in 2003, the Formula 3 Euroseries in 2005 and the GP2 title this year.

Dennis says he has been a model pupil.

"Confidence is often coupled with arrogance, but there isn't an ounce of arrogance in Lewis," he said.

"He listened, which so frequently young people don't, and progressively built his career. He's deserved this opportunity."

Stories about Hamilton have often focused on the driver's ethnicity - his grandfather came to Britain from Grenada in the 1950s - but Dennis insists this has never been a consideration for him.

"To be honest, it just doesn't register and never has," he said. "We're very aware of the ability of Lewis' colour to be used as a headline.

"But for us, it's just immaterial. We don't hide from the fact he's from a mixed-race background, but it just doesn't matter.

"The Tiger Woods label makes you smile and you could argue it's a compliment, but it's just not relevant to our objectives.

"He's in the team because he's earned it and not because of his colour."

Hamilton must also tire of being asked questions about his race, but he embraces the fact he could become a role-model for ethnic groups wanting to enter F1.

"Hopefully it can encourage other ethnic groups to get involved in the sport," he told BBC Sport.

"It doesn't have to be just for one group of people, it can be for everyone. Hopefully when I'm there people that can relate to (me) will see that it's possible and also try to get into the sport."

Hamilton says he is not daunted by the prospect of partnering Alonso

Not only will Hamilton have to contend with the label of the "Tiger Woods of F1" but also the prospect of being compared in equal equipment to the best driver in the sport.

F1 is an unforgiving world at the best of times, let alone when you're the team-mate of the youngest double champion in history.

Yet the 21-year-old from Stevenage says he is relishing working with Alonso.

"I view it as a positive," he said. "I think I can benefit from having such a strong team-mate and I'm looking forward to working with him.

"I'm going to try and do the best job I can and learn from him as quickly as possible and eventually compete against him."

Dennis says that having such a strong driver already in the team will actually give Hamilton space to develop, yet he still thinks the youngster can win a race next season.

"Having an expectation of Lewis winning next season is not unrealistic, as long as we have a strong car, but certainly not in the early parts of the season," he said.

And then onto Dennis' other hope: "If he's not too hyped he can blossom as a Grand Prix driver."

It's likely to be one wish that isn't granted.

Kimi finally brings a smile in my clouded face...
unfortunately both Mclaren drivers finished the race, it seems that the abundance of sponsors worked their way on engine reliability, but they are still not fast enough,
Masa+Kimi will avenge Schumi...

PS it seems that this year, F1 is much more colorful
