that's not. an italian team needs to be up there with the best clubs, and only juve have the chance to do that. you can call that a right business choice, take away some $$$ from ONLY ONE team, the best one i can't find any explanation for the change of contributions of the two chinese clubs either, but the cut juve received is plain stupid. juve is the ONLY disfavored team of the new system, that's what you call a penalty, but i can't see the ground for it.

serie a needs the strongest possible juve to keep or improve its appeal. they still haven't learned from calciopoli: once they put juve aside, serie a went downhill.

Yes, but it's not enough. No one wants to watch a one team league. Serie A should learn from Die Bundesliga and even Ligue 1. Make the league more attractive, so investors come in. New stadia, better atmosphere, a better brand of football, less racism, etc...

Juventus winning 10 consecutive Serie A titles and getting more money from the TV deal isn't good in the long term, not for the league, and not for Juve. We need to find other ways to generate income, and that will happen by attracting interesting players, playing better football, and remaining competitive in Europe on a consistent basis.

Morons? From a business perspective it's the right thing to do. Juventus isn't enough for Serie A to prosper. There needs to be a broader range of appeal than Juventus.

psg and its "galacticos" attracts a lot of viewers towards other clubs, too. for instance, digi is the tv company that broadcasts serie a and league 1 in hungary, and in case psg play at 20:45 on saturdays, they move that match to their 1st channel (out of 3 in hungary). it's a well considered move as psg's matches are more watched in hungary than a random serie a match not including juve or milan.

Sooner or later Serie A teams would've demanded parity just that it has happened now. Both PL and Bundesliga have followed the same model and it was inevitable Serie A did the same.

If an equal share deal means 'weakening' Juventus then I'm afraid they can't sustain themselves in the long term. We are experiencing a fortunate phase of pocketing as much TV money as we can. Next season will have 4 Italian teams in CL so the market pool share is going to be much lesser for us compared to previous seasons. Sooner or later this was going to happen.

Even the management knows that hence are finding alternate solutions to increase revenue.

I personally think it's a good move because this league needs to be repackaged big time. Juventus aren't like oil rich PSG where they can buy superstars without breaking a sweat so they are dependent on the league one way or another, for their growth.

Current split is basically this:
40% of pot is divided equally among 20 clubs
30% is divided based on popularity of the club (attendance, season tickets etc. and also population of the city)
15% based on past five years performance
15% based on last year performance

In the new deal they are increasing the equal distribution part to 50% while, as far as I can tell, reducing the money made from club popularity part to 20%. Hence why our change is drastic.

I think that table is wrong. The future season column adds up to ~1.2bn euros, while the deal is only worth 1.05bn euros

With the new deal according Stich' source, Inter is - besides Milan and Juve - the club that benefits the least, they only have a revenue increase of around 12% unliek Roma with 17% and Napoli with 23% (quick math).

Looking at this picture, it's clear Inter have a lot to lose on popularity just as Juve and Milan

I recently read a random footie agent stating that young french stars don't want to leave Ligue 1 for Serie A nowadays as opposed to the past and it does seem true that we hear less and less about import from Ligue 1. PSG probably has something to do with it

I am talking about model where juventus TV rights decrease from 122 million euros to 91 euros if Barcelona earned 140 million euros from the TV rights from the same model
