What did Marotta then expect to pay when he was chasing the likes of Augero, Cavani and RVP? He recently said that we were priced out of an RVP deal (ManU paid in the region of 30m)

Star players, who cost more money, lead to increased revenue from all aspects.

- Better merchandise sales
- Better TV rights deals
- More success on the field leading to increased revenue all round from things like continued CL appearances

Ronaldo jersey sales at Madrid alone would have covered a healthy amount of his transfer cost.

It's fantastic to see that Juve is getting its finances in order, but don't expect to go that further step if you're never going to invest, yes INVEST, in top quality players that cost a lot of money.
Very true.

Gotta be ready to take the next big step and run calculated risks

being in debt isn't as bad as people make it out to be. as long as it is responsible. some business couldn't even work without debt
As long as it's responsible. Many companies ignore this and that's a problem. It's almost imposible to run a big company without ever taking a loan. Financing yourself from your own capital is good if you have enough resources but if you want to expand you will most likely have to take a credit. The biggest problem comes when companies take one credit to replace existing one thus increasing interest rate and the amount of debt. If you take a credit to finalize your project which will give you steady return of 7-10% yearly, it's a good decision.

Watch City, PSG and Chelsea get away with fines.

The European Club Association says Bayern Munich's 3.1 million euros ($3.81 million) payment was the biggest share from UEFA's 100 million euros ($122.83 million) club compensation fund for releasing players to EURO 2012.
Bayern topped the table of about 575 clubs being paid after it sent 12 players, including eight of Germany's squad that reached the semi-finals, with five different teams to EURO 2012. UEFA also gave clubs daily-rate payments for releasing players to qualifying matches in 2010 and 2011.

The ECA said Real Madrid received almost 3 million euros ($3.69 million). Madrid sent 11 players to Poland and Ukraine, including five from eventual champion Spain and three from semi-finalist Portugal.

Barcelona received 2.21 million euros ($2.71 million), Manchester City earned 2.07 million euros ($2.54 million) and Juventus collected 2.02 million euros ($2.48 million).

Juventus players right now are worth more than a double in comparison with 2010. In 2010 they were valued at 149M and this year 302M.

How does that work?
Well, they give us 2m and we accept it.

Pretty simple. :D

Would like to point out that Marchisio and Vidal are both the same value.

Maybe Bayern valued Vidal at €35m-40m :klin:
