Samsung Stadium for Juventus?

Sport Mediaset are claiming that Juventus are closing in on a €120m stadium naming rights deal with Samsung.

The South Korean giants are said to be looking to sign a five-year agreement with the Old Lady which would see the Juventus Stadium rebranded as the Samsung Stadium.

Samsung have apparently been in talks with Sportfive, the company who agreed a 12-year naming rights deal which sees the Italian club receive a minimum of €6.25m a season.

Juventus have yet to react to the rumours and they haven’t in the past when Samsung were again linked with their arena.

In November 2012, Juve and Samsung penned a sponsorship contract which saw them become the club’s technological partners.

In the Korean language, Samsung means 'three stars’.

Where would that money go? Would it go into the transfer budget or would they invest it or something?
All the money would go to Sportfive as they are the one who own naming rights for the next 12 years. We were paid 75m few years back. Indirectly it would have an impact as Samsung would bring some business our way. Maybe some electronic gadgets with our sign, panels around the pitch advertising Samsung and connected companies, probably some high payed tours in Asia and so on.
It could also open opportunities such as jersey sponsorship agreements when the current one expires.

Just read on some fan page on FB,that Sportfive actually paid us the 75mil over 6 years for being responsible for which sponsors will be brought to represent the stadium and its Name.
And they will be recieving something like 15-20% from any sponsor deal Juve signs for the Stadium sponsor.
If it's true Juve will be getting the most of the 120mil from Samsung...

Don't know if there is any truth in it...

Wait, we sold our name-rights of 12 years for just 75 millions? And now Samsung offers 120 millions for just 5 years? We should have made the deal by oursealves :groan:

But in the other side, I guess that initial investment was necessary to begin the proyect :sigh:

As Quetzalcoatl sais, it indeed makes more than sense. I mean, they BOUGHT THE NAME RIGHTS FOR THE STADIUM. If some company is putting their name on it, the one selling the rights is Sportfive, consequently the one getting the money is no other but Sportfive.

If that thing about they just bought 75% of the rights it's right, and the deal ends up on €120M. Then, we could have the €30M spread in five years, being this 6 millions per year. Added to the €6.25M that Sportfive give us, the grand total would be just €12.25M/year.

Fuck, 12 years is a very very long time for just €75M. This guys made a fool of us. :sigh:

That doesn't make much sense. They wouldn't be in business for too long if they made that kind of deals. Their expectancy would be to sell stadium naming rights for 700-800m euros if 15-20% was their target.

SPORTFIVE Italia S.r.l., which is part of the SPORTFIVE Group (a company of Lagardère Sports), the European leader in the field of sports rights marketing, decided to enter into the agreement due to the strength and international value of the JUVENTUS brand and also in order to be part of the new JUVENTUS stadium project. According to the agreement, SPORTFIVE is entitled to exclusively sell the naming right for the new stadium and to market the sky boxes and VIP seats.
The partnership shall last until the twelfth year following completion of the new stadium (presently estimated to be ready in the 2011/2012 season and, therefore, the agreement will cease on 30 June 2023).
In concluding this agreement, the parties have signed up to an innovative strategic alliance that confirms their leadership in their respective markets.

It does make sense. We needed the money, so we sold the naming rights to them and they resold it for profit.
We used that money for building it.

When the deal was made we weren't in position we find ourselves now. The deal was made in 2008 and that money was used for paying the suppliers.

Anyway Juventus are valued at $694M according to Forbes which puts us on 8th place.
