I don't know where else to post this, so I'll post it here.

Found this post on a trading and finance forum I'm on, and thought I should pass it along to folks in India.


I have to delete the original recipient of this email to protect his identity -- but this comes from a very close friend in the international shipping business. The credibility of this source is *extremely* good, and very senior.

The terms "High Imminent Alert" are not used lightly -- and he has not seen them used before.

NOTE: This appears to be a threat to an INDIA port in the 3rd week of September. ( Not U.S. )

Dear Sir,



We have received the following information from the Port & it needs to be passed onto all our Members;



This is to inform All Members that the Port Sector faces high imminent threat from seaward side due to the Terrorist threat during the third week of September 2009 / 23rd September 2009, the deadline of which is fast approaching. All members are advised to inform their Lines /Owners in turn to instruct their Vessels calling at the Ports around above dates for keeping high Vigilance on account of the threat & to be on the high alert thereof. Kindly note that as informed by the Port, the Customs Authorities (Rummaging) / Water Police Patrol / Coast Guard, Higher Authorities may search the vessel prior granting permission to enter the Port. You are advised to inform all Vessels to co-operate in this regard & to maintain strict Vigilance at all times.
