Just after watching a movie, I read an article in a magazine about that: movie makers udes one of new scientific theories, but one of those, who are seemed as ridiculous as far.
Cause we have a huge chance for global warming problams really soon, but they predicted ice era to hgappen in about 20-30 years, if all countires dont lower production of carbon dioxide.
But still, the movie was very enterteining for me, I loved it!

Actually global warming could lead to a new ice-age via various scenarios. One of them being that the gulf stream that keeps the climate in Europe mild (and Europe's climate really is very mild when you consider New York is just as far north as Rome) would stop because of the sea cooling down when ice caps crash into the water when they break from the poles.
There's no way the ice and frost would find its way south that fast though. It would be a process of decades, not minutes like in the movie.
I know this because over here the threat is very real - the government launched a major operation to keep our nation dry several years ago but its not going well. We had to resort to plan B just recently.
On the bright side, if we loose that battle we won't be tortured by the memories of a disastrous Euro2004 anymore
