True, I just hate the latter with a passion. But that's just me, I would rather live in a country ruled by Islamists than a country ruled by wrinkled old Zionists.

Only people with little sense would support the Islamic republic. It's as simple as that.

Are you claiming the opposite, salman?
Or rather only people with different set of prefrences than educated(insert sarcastic smiley) human beings would support the Islamic republic.

If that's claiming the opposite to you, then sure.

I take the education thing back. Even an idiot can see that the Islamic republic was pretty much the worst thing which could happen to Iran.

What that makes of Turk and other supporters of the regime, you tell me.

if by educated people you mean people that understand the fact that religion does not work for everyone, then i dont see the need for sarcasm
Ofcourse religion does not work for everyone. But why do we ignore the other side of things? Not having relgiion does not work for everyone either.

Im not from Iran, ive never been around Iranians, and i dont know any Iranian in person. But if you're saying that a person ok and happy with the Islamic Republic is an idiot, then im sorry,i simply do not agree with you.If a person is happy being in a society that tries to implement strict Islamic(or any other religious) codes for that matter, and im not talking about Iran here alone, but any country/society that follows religious codes..it does not make people happy with the whole thing idiots.Different people, different sets of prefrences. It's all simple as that.It does not make a person a genius or an idiot.

How about everyone practices their religion individually as they wish, and not force it into others? Thats the best solution, period. Practicing any religion individually, cool, imposing it on others in a political system, uncool.

For example, Somalia has its own 1000000 problems, but it wasnt nice news to see that now the Parliament has approved sharia laws (reasons are bit different, its to appease the extremist militias who controll parts of the country, "work" together instead of continued anarchy). Which is unfortunate, because its imposing your religion on others, its a choice for each individual, not one you make for them (I like how most muslim countries have things, not countries like Saudis, Irans and now partly Pakistan who let the Talibans force sharia law on big part of their country).

Somali's are people who have been muslims for a millenia, but havent had much need to impose it on others, and seen religion as a personal thing, now doing it, simply because they are bullied to by a violent extremist group (supported by extremist elsewhere), is kinda annoying (The powerless Parliament was "suggested" to do this by foreign religious clerks etc).

That is, unfortunately, impossible.

Anyone, Iranian or not, who believes religious fanaticism, dictatorship and corruption is the way to go obviously has a problem. Either he or she has no idea of what the alternatives in which case that person is ill educated.

Or, they have a twisted sense of morality and in some way there are personal benefits for having such a regime. Power comes to mind, whether it is political or in your home.

Would you like an Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Salman?

obviously you fuck, because if you just opened your eyes to the world (as corny as it sounds) you would realize that there is so little difference between people of different religions that it's downright silly to fight over it

@Miss - sorry i don't know your name -

Do you have a problem with your country?
sometimes, i envy Iran as they are sending satellite to space while we are assembling some Japanese cars.beside from technological improvements don't you love how can they stand strong against every threat from their enemies?Trust me,you would understand its value when you lost it.
She is 23 according to her profile and she isn't married. She lives in Iran. She's a Juve fan

Knowing this.....

Imagine Juve going to her town to play a football match. Do you think she can watch the match? Do you think Del Piero can sign her jersey?
No!
Do you know why?
Because even if she's dressed properly (with the hijab and all) she can't get inside the stadium because women in Iran aren't allowed to go inside the stadiums.

Now imagine we, the juventuz members, arrange a meeting in Turkey. She wants to join us.
Do you think she can join us?
No!
Do you know why?
Because she's single and women in Iran aren't allowed to leave the country unless they leave with their husband, their parents or if it's some university international project.
She's single, her parents don't want to go to Turkey and it's not a uni project. She has the money and the wish, but she's not allowed to leave. She has to get married in order to go outside Iran.

Do you think this is acceptable?

And these are only two examples. She can give you many more probably.

yeah but we dont need a religious-based dictatorship to do that. in fact that achieves the complete opposite

You two are mising the point.Ofcourse the best possible solution is being in a soceity where you are free to have and practice whatever religious belief you want, but if a person living in a system such is that in Iran is happy with the system, then you and i,or anyone else for that matter, has no right to question his sense of morality or wether he's an idiot.

PS.Sadomin - It already is the Islamic Republic Of Pakistan.

look at how iran controls the even most personal aspects of one's life, like alen mentioned. i see no reason why we arent allowed to call that stupid. and the only non-stupid people that protect that system are those that have benefited at the expenses of the rest

PS.Sadomin - It already is the Islamic Republic Of Pakistan.
that is almost as stupid as "The People's Republic of Albania"
