Ofcourse religion does not work for everyone.But why do we ignore the other side of things?Not having relgiion does not work for everyone either.
Im not from Iran,ive never been around Iranians,and i dont know any Iranian in person.But if you're saying that a person ok and happy with the Islamic Republic is an idiot,then im sorry,i simply do not agree with you.If a person is happy being in a society that tries to implement strict Islamic(or any other religious) codes for that matter,and im not talking about Iran here alone,but any country/society that follows religious codes..it does not make people happy with the whole thing idiots.Different people,different sets of prefrences.It's all simple as that.It does not make a person a genius or an idiot.

How about everyone practices their religion individually as they wish, and not force it into others? Thats the best solution, period. Practicing any religion individually, cool, imposing it on others in a political system, uncool.
For example, Somalia has its own 1000000 problems, but it wasnt nice news to see that now the Parliament has approved sharia laws (reasons are bit different, its to appease the extremist militias who controll parts of the country, "work" together instead of continued anarchy). Which is unfortunate, because its imposing your religion on others, its a choice for each individual, not one you make for them (I like how most muslim countries have things, not countries like Saudis, Irans and now partly Pakistan who let the Talibans force sharia law on big part of their country).
Somali's are people who have been muslims for a millenia, but havent had much need to impose it on others, and seen religion as a personal thing, now doing it, simply because they are bullied to by a violent extremist group (supported by extremist elsewhere), is kinda annoying (The powerless Parliament was "suggested" to do this by foreign religious clerks etc).

Now imagine we, the juventuz members, arrange a meeting in Turkey. She wants to join us.
Do you think she can join us?
No!

Because she's single and women in Iran aren't allowed to leave the country unless they leave with their husband, their parents or if it's some university international project.

You two are mising the point.Ofcourse the best possible solution is being in a soceity where you are free to have and practice whatever religious belief you want,but if a person living in a system such is that in Iran is happy with the system,then you and i,or anyone else for that matter,has no right to question his sense of morality or wether he's an idiot.

look at how iran controls the even most personal aspects of one's life, like alen mentioned. i see no reason why we arent allowed to call that stupid. and the only non-stupid people that protect that system are those that have benefited at the expenses of the rest
