Well, the problem is Ze, is that I don't believe in god, but at the same time, I don't judge others who believe in him, unlike Seven. The way I see it is, the more people who are closed minded, the more un-educated they are. The more un-educated they are, the more religious they become. We're in a generation now Ze, that has turned it's back on religion and it's actually looking quite good. Orders don't come from churches and doesn't go through pst them anymore. The only true Arab state which doesn't think like it's Arab brothers are the Lebanese. They were dominated by French schools, hell, half of them speak French and their mentality is so different than the other closed-minded Arabs I've met anywhere.
So wait, this is what you say:

1) If you're not educated, you believe in God.
2) Less people believe in God now and things are looking better.

AND THEN YOU SAY YOU RESPECT PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN GOD? What kind of insanity is that? Why do you people do this? You make a solid argument and then your conclusion doesn't match your argument.

Sure it is. I'm sure you see it as Seven brutally attacking the islamic members of the forum for no reason. But usually the religion door is opened beforehand. He does get out of hand every once in a while and I'm sure you'll be first to admit that others such as yourself and Lion troll his posts.
Then why make a stink about it and continuously pretend to be offended? Even I troll a little every now and then. If we're going to play these silly games then perhaps we should all be banned or quit acting like babies.
And I can see why Seven and Bes detest religion.
I didn't know Lions were idiots.
Sure I do. Just cause people are offended by the sentiment of Bes and Seven toward religion doesn't mean the forum has to cater to their feelings. After all this is a place to share opinions.
Be honest. You're a pussy. You couldn't pull the eyes out of a doll.
Getting accusatory are we?

Being unbiased is for pansies. I want to demonstrate BELGIAN POWAR!
You're doing a great job here of being unbiased. Bravo!

Inevitably all conclusions must equal what Seven believes :D

I'll reply to you later Seven, it's nap time.
No, that's not what I meant. It rationally doesn't make any sense. People put forward a couple of arguments followed by a conclusion. Of course you have to see to it that the arguments you use suit that conclusion. Which you for example failed to do. You provided arguments for a completely different conclusion.

You're a madman.

Serious question: How do you perceive respect? Is it given or earned?*

*Basically a question some of my friends and I have discussed over the years.
Good point. This is the true root of it all.

Respect is, of course, earned.

That's my stance. But is it possible to respect a person you've never met, like popular figures etc?
IMO everyone starts on the same level. Which means that I won't insult a complete stranger. But if he fucks up, I don't see why I should respect him.

As for popular figures... it's a difficult question. I think you have to judge them on what you see, they know they are popular figures after all.

That's basically my opinion, but I've know a few people over the years that say you should respect people of rank, authority, or stature merely because of their position. I feel that even your boss needs to earn your respect.

He does. Then again I do think that you can work for someone you don't respect.

I've actually done that a few times.
You know, I always feel people throw in the word "respect" to hide from other ideas. It's not about respect here, it's about finding a way to ignore a rational argument. And it's sad, because the word is already starting to lose meaning.

So if they say that I have to respect people even if deep down I think they are morons, I think that's impossible. I think you're a nutter for believing that a religion invented more than thousand years ago will show you the best path to follow in life. And I don't respect nutters. Not in that aspect anyway.

Everyone has a state of their mind of their own. They could be pissed of and you might not like them, or you could be pissed of and not like them or a 100 other examples like that. You give respect and you earn respect. This isn't a one way deal.

So you respect a guy walking down the street, like honestly respect him?

And by respect I don't mean merely being courteous. That isn't respect.

Why shouldn't I ? Tell me why I shouldn't.
First of all don't be so defensive. This is just a conversation.

Real respect is something earned. If you respect everyone for no reason then respect ceases to matter and the system breaks down.
