I remember Aldi's when I lived in Chicago. The closest here is something like Big Lots, which have their own bizarre clientele (and everything chained down for theft protection).

walmart really is horrendous. definitely one of the worst things about america.
costco > BJs > sam's club

publix is horrible as well, but somehow walmart is more depressing

as for belgium, well, carrefour and kolruyte bad, but delhaize isn't so bad...

wegmans?! the only one i've been to, in VA, is fucking nice! It's not whole foods, but pretty good

Walmart, I bought a buddy of mine a cheap microwave as a present when he moved in to his new appartment. That thing sucked and he went on to buy a new one few weeks after. Best present ever.
