Am I missing something or did this team turned to shit over half a year. Is it the same team even?
The players were in a totally different fitness level.

This is still the same team except for Locatelli and Kean were with the seniors. They conceded 0 goals in 5 matches of euro qualifying, and now lost 3-0 to the 4th placed team. I think Sweden being mid season is the key here.

Frabotta is doing great in the U21 vs Ireland.

The whole squad is. Sottil just scored a missile for 1-0.

ITALIA U21 (3-5-2)—

Cerofolini; Vogliacco, Buongiorno, Pirola; Birindelli, Ricci, Tonali, Muratore, Frabotta; Cutrone, Sottil. All: Bollini.

IRLANDA U21 (4-3-3)—

Bazunu; L.O'Connor, Masterson, Collins, Leahy; Smallbone, Coventry, Taylor; Elbouzedi, Obafemi, Ronan. All: Crawford

Italy are actually fielding the U20 squad in this game because the U21 have Covid issues.

I was wondering who the hell are these guys except for Cutrone, Tonali and our Frabotta.
Ricci is a starter for Empoli.

Muratore is our own player that we just sold to Atalanta.

Sottil is a starting winger for Cagliari, on loan from Fiore, with some hype.

Those are the other high profile ones.

Muratore and Caviglia made some appearances for us and this is should play for Atalanta and Parma.
Portanova played as well.

Didn't know the best thread to write this. One of the azzurrini, Gianluca Scamacca, just scored on his first Serie A start for Genoa in the derby.

It seems that the hype man finally arrived in Serie A. For those that haven't followed the youth teams, Scamacca was always one of the most hyped talents. The comparison used to be with Ibra for his playing style as a tall but very technical player. After many injuries, and odd transfers in his youth career (Raiola?) that stalled his development, he finally had his explosion last year.

13 goals with Ascoli in Serie B. Sassuolo sent him on a dry loan to Genoa at the end of the transfer window.

He started his first match in the coppa italia scoring a brace. Now he started his first Serie A match and scored against Samp in the Derby.

One to keep an eye on, to see if he can deliver the kind of level that his talent seemed to suggest.
