The war between Aljazeera and Egyptian Nilesat continues.

It is so annoying for all those around me that care about this World Cup. They got mad whenever Aljazeera goes down. Here in Jordan, no other choice because Jordanian Tv was too cheap to pay for Aljazeera. I love the media fight on Aljazeera that they will sue anybody who is causing this. It is all about politics. I loved the people who sent to Aljazeera Mubasher Channel SMS calling for launching a separate Qatari satellite. I think it is not impossible if the Qatari prince and his wife Mrs. Banana like the idea.

here is the story reb:

Football fans across the Arab world paid the price for what seems to be a hidden war between the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU) and Al-Jazeera Sport, the official broadcaster of the World Cup.

Pinned to their chairs with their eyes glued to TV screens, hundreds of thousands of football lovers in Egypt, UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were frustrated during the World Cup opener as the broadcasting signal suffered technical problems.

Nobody has seen it coming as they watched the opening ceremony for almost two hours untroubled. But nearly 10 minutes into the first-half between South African and Mexico, TV screens started to repeatedly blackout for several minutes.

FilGoal.com news room received tens of calls and users posted comments from different Arab countries, all asking about the reason behind the unforeseen disturbance.

"It's a deliberate act and we will take legal action against whoever is responsible for it," Al-Jazeera content director Hisham Al-Khalsi said without elaboration.

"They are pirates but Al-Jazeera will never be their victim.

"Although we have no hand in this sad incident, we apologize to the viewers and subscribers and promise we would do our best to ensure it won't happen again."

A statement ran across the screen during the second-half saying that the source of the problem was Egypt's satellite NileSat and advising the viewers to switch to ArabSat for a clear and undisturbed transmission.

Why Egypt?

Al-Jazeera is believed to be pointing fingers at Egyptian officials, particularly because the signal on Egypt's Nile TV didn't encounter any problems.

The Qatari channel has initially announced that all the matches of the month-long event would be offered only on cable.

According to this statement, ERTU paid Al-Jazeera EGP 120.000 million to obtain the rights to broadcast 22 games on Egyptian terrestrial channels.

Advertising slots were sold and famous football analysts were brought in as Nile TV promoted itself as the only free-to-air channel to show the World Cup.

But Al-Jazeera, surprisingly, decided to put some of the World Cup game free-to-air.

They didn't announce which games would be available to unsubscribed viewers but sports marketing experts say that these games are likely to be the same sold to Egyptian TV.

A top source in ERTU told FilGoal.com that they will issue an official statement in response to Al-Jazeera claims.

  helwa mrs Banana it gets me every time!! i think they will end up doing this to be honest reb, its very annoying specially when u consider the amount of people who paid to subscribe for this event. as you mention not allt he countries bought the rights so its an inconvenience for every one.

even after the reason which seems to be behind the reason for sabotage its ridiculous to ruin it for the rest of the people who dont get free coverage. so i wont be surprised if they launch there own sat and thats there right to be frank.

I did not subscribe to Aljazeera because I almost lost any interest in football, Ahmed. But I feel for all those people that paid for watching matches and were seemingly robbed.

yeah its not nice nor fair. i understand there is a business/politics issue going on between al-jazeerah and egyptain radio and tv union but why do people who subscribed or people who go to cafes to watch the game suffer bec both parties dont want to sort the problems out peacefully. why yaa abed, the wc is always fun and it takes your mind off every day life for a while. its a good break to be honest specially in our summers which are very hot and we tend to be lazy in. besides tomorrow isa u can always use football to make up excuses for not wanting to go out shopping :D

You're not interested in football? Hm.
ِAfter the calciopoli and what happened to Juventus, I found that football is not about skill and efforts of players and the coaches. It is another place where those who have power control everything even if they are not doing their job on the playground like Inter Milan. That is why I became not interested in cheering for players who will be robbed of the title if they win it fair and square. I watched hundreds of matches before the calciopoli and I was so enthusiastic to see my club winning on the playground. When I saw them being robbed of the titles that were won fairly, I lost the interest in cheering for this game.

That is it.

Every once in a while you should take a break from feeling hard done by.
