Me and Snoop always argue. He's good after-all. It's normal to argue though he piss the shit out of me sometimes. But we've been like this since long time.

I know Syrians has really nothing to do with the gov...thats what some close people of mine do tell me. I really have nothing against the Syrians nor Palestinians people(like lot of people do think on this forum). Though I would always disagree with them when It comes to politics.

But thats how things go, people always have diff views/points.
you can have anything about the syrians, that's really ok with me, but you mix a lot of things with that feeling. you told me that you came to aleppo and saw houses made of sands, the next day i asked all my friends to show me a house made of sands, I was serious when I asked, because aleppo is very big city and I didn't even see half of it, they laughed at me when they heared that..

you see what I am talking about? you are making things out of your mind, the same goes for the food, they are same, lebanese make it better? that's another story

btw I wasn't arguing or fighting with you, I don't do it because of stupid things like these, but you were talking non-sense about what I know very much, and i had to disagree with you, don't take it that serious. no problems here

TBH, snoop, I didn't read your prev post since it showed how many smilies and laughs are over there...(don't really feel comfortable reading posts with soo much smilies) one or two would have been enough. But.....anyway.

Consider whatever you want to consider, I can't force you nor oblige you to believe what we Lebanese do believe. Sa7ten salaf when you eat.

Just for more clarification, I've just edited my previous post.

@Snoop and Rab, don't let the momentum of the argument takes you that far.
We are here in that thread to speak about anything: traditions, different arabic cultures, music, jokes and whatever we like. But please, try as possible as you can to be away from politics.

Back to what Rab said, I agree and I want to add that we all here in the Arab world want peace and prosperity for every Arab country without a doubt. We have nothing to do with our governments and we have no hand in their decisions. Even though, we are proud that we still have nearly the same traditions and we speak the same language.

Peace Guys.

Edit: I agree with both of you about having different political point of views, I didn't mean cuisines, huh....

Well, I like to read for Jahili poets too, but I don't understand much. I think al-Mutanabbi is my favorite, although the insulting poems of Al-Farazdaq, Jareer and Al-Akh6al for each other are funny too...

Edit: I have to say that Nezar has great poems too although most of them are written by the modern way...
Well I cannot claim that I understand much either, but researching and trying to understand the meaning will make it worthwhile. After that the beauty of such poetry unravels in front of your eyes...simply breathtaking!

And of course Mutanabi, Farzadaq, Jareer, Akh6al...etc were great poets and have lots of beautiful work. IMO, as a rule of thumb, if we look at Arabic poetry's timeline, from Jahili to modern, as we progress the quality becomes less. With a few exceptions here and there.

One of these exceptions is Ghazi Al-Qusaibi, who is deeply influenced by Al-Mutanabi, but is truely great!

I comment on politicianss and their funny quotes, did you see me supporting any of them there?
Snoop, their is a difference between not following politics and having a political view.

Also, I didn't say that you support a specific party against another one, I said that you have a political viewpoint when someone asks you and this is a positive thing. Do you remember our discussion about the Armenian minority in Syria for example?

Totally right...

I didn't read any poem for him honestly, but wasn't he the embassador in Britain?? If yes, I think he wasted his time & reputation with politics, then...

Lol he was everything! He was the Minister of Industry, Health, Electricity, and perhaps some other stuff. At some point he was perhaps the second strongest man in Saudi, which caused him a lot of problems. This link will give you a small introduction about him:

http://www.sabborat.com/vb/showthread.php?p=297778&mode=threaded

The link mentions "risalat al-motanabi ila saif aldawla"....you should figure out who is al-motanabi and who is saif al-dawla ;)...here is the poem (of course each two lines form a "bayt"):

WoW. Nice...I'm amazed that there are still poets that have that momentum in their words. Although I have some notes:

1- I guess the fourth line of the poem is broken. I think it should be maybe

2- Does he want to make it fall on the ears of somebody in the reality?? I mean as in the same situation where Almutanabbi And Sayf Aldawlah was. I guess he wants to deliver his message to his leader for not believing for what was said. I don't know what was said about him, though:D

3- I liked the name of the forum you put the link from:D . Do they mean the Blackboards?? You reminded me of a word I thought I forgot in my childhood...

4- Mohammed Mahdi Aljawahiri, the Iraqi poet, had almost similar strength, but he used all of his capabilities in praising Arab leaders, unfortunately...

1- Yes I believe you are right :)

2-Well that poem was directed to the equivelant of "saif al-dawla" of our times. He was relegated for this poem from minister to ambassador. The saif al-dawla goes by the name "panther" ;)

3-Yup...3ozr al baleeeeeeeed mas7 alsaboooooooora :D

4- Don't know him, what's his best?
