We aren't saying that he played his role poorly, we are saying that his role is not neccessary, and thus he should adapt himself or sit on the bench.
i dont see how is role isnt neccessary. thats abit silly in my opinion.

replace tacchinardi with maresca, fair enough, but with appiah, it doesnt look balanced.

anyway, by all means, i would love Lippi to try appiah-davids in the middle, and if it works out then i'll be the first to correct my wrongful thinking.

but i dont think Lippi would have those two playing together anytime soon.

Am a bit skeptical with the whole 4-2-3-1 formation. My primary worry is the defence & as many have highlighted we just can't cope with a speedy counter attacking team. Montero is resorting to wild moves ala rugby & Zambrotta is doing great only when there is a backup for him (Did you see how exposed he was in the S&B game?). This formation creates a lot of suicidal last ditch tackles.
In the midfield Davids is a red card waiting to happen especially if any team runs at us. Tachi is more refined but definitely a yellow card candidate (I think Maresca should be given a chance). This means that Appiah will have to do a lot of work (Fact is he is not truly tested yet). Camo, Neddy, DP & Micolli are all offensive minded & will be spending a lot of their energy attacking. Trez will be at the fore front maybe scoring a gazilion goals.
My conclusion is :
This is a good formation only when we are winning & over running a team else it could be a potential disaster.

No no, i mean Davids should play with either Appiah or Maresca!
Davids, I don't think so, he is already disturbed mentaly i can't see him doing what he used to do., at least for now. and maresca is good but he needs time to get used to the atmosphere and the tactic, i can't see him starting this season may be next season.

I don't think lippi will Play any other couple but Tacchi and Appiah unless one of them gets injured IMO.

Fine, play Tacchinardi, throw that whole arguement out hte window. The real issue is that Miccoli sucks at his position in that formation.

I don't think that it's fair for you to say that Miccoli sucks in this new position. He was fairly good in this position during pre-season and although he sucked against Empoli, you can't judge a player on one performance. Let's wait and see how he does when he comes back from injury and then we can make a decision.
