the tabbed browsing for me is probably the best thing about firefox. blocking the pop-ups is nice to, but I don't visit porn sites like some of the people here do

I use gmail and yahoo, and I'm thinking of trying aol's free mail (scared of downloading any of thei crap thoug) and so far yahoo is better than gmail. the conversation thing is a good idea, but the lack of folder's is a pain in the ass! and sometimes google inexplicably seperates conversations

I just bought a 15" PowerBook for myself and I'm in heaven! Incredibile!

the person who said "once you go Mac, you never go back" knows his shit!

Let me be the next to tell you (AGAIN): You have to try OSX Tiger! In other words, get a Mac!

Oh I think linux would be tough to beat and I would just go on complaining that this is different and that is different, just like Windows users do at the sight of an operating system

Closest I've come to OsX is FreeBSD, that wasn't half bad but I prefer linux.

I've been meaning to try Tiger, now that Apple is shifting to Intel and most likely x86, I'll see if I won't find a way to test drive it on my box.

Fair enough. I guess you're all set with Linux. I'm still a beginer with that environment. Knoppix and Ubuntu were pretty coolI guess. Still though, I'm mostly a sucker for eye candy. That's where Tiger wins.

I wouldn't want to repeat Trezzy's joke about recorking champagne bottles (even though the timing was clinical). Point being that Microsoft is not going away any time soon, armed with a multitude of vendor lock in mechanisms on several layers, they hold a tight grip on the user base. I mean pull MsOffice from Mac and you got a disaster.

Still, I hope it will run on any x86 so that everyone has another choice. Linux is great for some, but not necessarily for all so maybe Tiger can fill that void, eh.

One thing I can immediately attribute to OSX is the networking capability. Built on good old unix, it works just fine. And I happen to consider networking performance to be Windows' biggest deficiency. :redface:

Good points. I wouldn't call it a disaster if MS MSOffice won't be available under Mac since oo.org's not too bad (looks horrible though).

I hope so too. I'd like to continue buying Mac OSes, specially now that i live on this side of the world where Apples are't available widely.

Not a disaster to you and me, but to companies that rely on it. OO is nice but it's not good enough for them. By good enough I mean it's not the same, even if it's a superior product.

That's not exactly completely unlike my desktop

I don't use the transparency and shadows stuff on a daily basis cause it slows down the desktop, it's still sorta experimental but it's getting there.
