Certainly one of the greatest strikers to have graced the game in the 90's. Probably the best centre-forward of the post Van Basten era. Incredibly powerful and accurate and full of "grinta". A charsismatic leader and a faithful player, as his 8 or 9 years at Fiorentina - where he accepted to play in serie B for a season - testify. Imo his moving to Rome at the age of 31 must be seen as an ability to put himself into question more than a quest for glory (though Sensi's check may have played a part too).

Thank you and take care, Re Leone.

..

Batistuta was one of the best EVER strikers. He was perfect at everything in his days, truely complete striker. Never seen any weak points by him. Non of the current strikers are as good as Bati was in his days. A true legend.

Have to admit, I haven't seen all that much of him playing, which is a real pity because what I saw was class. Favourite memory has to be a goal he scored for Fiorentina, blasted straight at Mark Bosnich, it swerved wickedly into the top left corner for no apparent reason (read, he struck it bloody sweetly) and left Bosnich scratching his arse as he picked the ball out of the net. I think Fiorentina lost, but it sure as hell wasn't his fault.
