Those shanks vs inter and Dortmund, those are shots he buried in atalanta, or at least put on target. It’s pretty much all mental. Between Loca and Koop we’ve got two mids that we need desperately and neither is stepping up.

Adzic looked pretty good in the double pivot yesterday, but that wasn’t a full game and he’s probably better with fewer defensive responsibilities. Miretti has similar defensive questions, but I know he runs a lot, so there’s at least that. Do you try McKennie and thuram? McKennie isn’t much of a passer but he runs and won’t slow the pace down. Either way, something needs to be done with that position.

Even watching his highlights from his best years at Atalanta he never looked like anything special.

He never stood out to me anytime I watched them play.

I never understood his hype, I kind of just assumed I was missing something and hoped it was justified.
I had pretty much the same thing, but then again I never watched Atalanta just saw him on the scoresheet quite often. But back in The Netherlands he wasn't rated at all, was just a regular CM at AZ and even during his time at Atalanta, when he got the chance in the NT he was the worst performer usually (He was played in a 3 man midfield next to Frenkie de Jong with usually a #10)

Is there anyone in NextGen who could maybe step up into our midfield instead of him? Maybe it’s a breakthrough season time for one of the guys
depends what they’re looking for. In the midfield they have two potential call ups imo

Faticanti- regista. Good at breaking lines and in possession. Not bad defensively but also not a big runner.

Owusu- box to box. Plays like Thuram, just a different body type. Like Thuram can get careless with the ball but good work rate and technically decent. Physical player that runs.

Realistically I think the most likely replacement is Miretti, or Adzic.
