Saying couldnt implies that we and coaching staff didn’t know what their best positions were. We all knew but allegri insisted playying them out of position for “tactics”

These are the position he played from all season he played, he can play in every position from CB>DM>CM>AM position in one straight line
To summarize if we combine all the goals and assists when he play as DM+CM+AM, he scored 63 goals and 31 assists
So in conclusion, if I am a coach his position will be a box to box midfielder because he mostly adept and dengerous in build up phase from the back, link up in the midifield and his main focus will be to give key pas to final third and get some shoot to create some goals when opportunity arise

He will be my Dutch Toni Kroos, with more freedom in attacking phase and license to shoot from outside the box

This one is Toni Kroos position, as we can see he rarely score goals but his assist numbers are pretty high. And we not count how much key passes which are not an assist in play
