Milan go techno

Thursday 3 November, 2005

Milan are working with American researchers on a computer project to improve their tactical awareness during matches.

The Rossoneri have sent two researchers to Boston to help develop the programme which tracks the exact movement of players during the course of a match.

Once completed, Carlo Ancelotti will be able to monitor the movement of his players in real time both during matches and training sessions and identify more easily which players have strayed from their allocated positions.

Steve McClaren successfully introduced similar technology during his time at Manchester United, after studying American methods adopted by NFL teams and placing cameras in various parts of the ground to better understand his side’s movement.
They really want to become robots.

Whaddayamean the cameras are stuck in a loop of Inzagi being flagged offside?
Imagine if a new software system could help Inzaghi be offside less. That would really be a technological advance.

What, like a virtual bungy cord tieing him to his own team's goalpost? I think it'd have to have some hardware element.

This is junk.

It helps in American football because the game naturaly has a lot of stoppages. But for the free-flowing beautiful game...

As per ManU, see where they are now

And why didn't McLaren introduce it in Boro?

No. Works is utter trash, they only give it away because it gives you very basic text processing and other office crap. Word is the real product they sell.
