Yes, I see Legrottaglie as a center back better than Thuram, we get better attack performance when we have Thuram as a side back, unlike Zebina.
You musn't have seen alot of Juve so far this season because Thuram has been as solid as a rock in central defence with Cannavaro while Zebina has added more to the attack than even Zambrotta.

Yeah, and besides that Thuram is probably too old to be right back every week. Zebina has really impressed me, I thought that he would be the successor to Bririndelli as sub.

And from our centrebacks Cannavaro, Thuram, Tudor, Ferrara, Montero, Iuliano and Legrottaglie I rate the latter to be the worst.

Legro is much better than the old trio ( ferrara, Montero and Juliano)
It is a mistake if we sell him .... Just look at the players we sell and the subs we keep ....
We sold Morreti and Cheillini while we kept Pessotto. Pessotto is thinking of retiring and the other two are from the best young left backs in Italy today.

cheillini is getting back to us next season , if does ok in viola.

Moretti had his chance and he didn't do well.

Pessoto had a very good match against chievo, and when he retires we will get someone else

Pesotto is one of my favourites from the old guard!! he is always there when needed and gives his best!!! I like him!!

I hope we get Chiellini back next season, it seems he is having a good season with regular football at Florenz!

i just suprised how tall Chiellini is... strange he want to be a fullback instead of a centre back...

I have nothing against Pessotto, but he can't deliver for ever. We need someone younger

Chiellini has been excellent for Fiorentina. If we don't get him back I'll be pissed, and Maresca has done well too.

    Projected 2006 formation:

    Buffon

    Zebina-Bonera-Cannavaro(Chiellini)-Zambrotta

    Olivera-Blasi-Appiah(Pedretti)-Kapo

    Trezeguet (Cassano)-Ibrahimovic
No offence, but that team looks mediocre at best to me. It just doesn't have the "Champions League hopefuls" feeling without players like Thuram, Emerson and Nedved.

I know he hasn't hit his peak yet, but Bonera isn't consistent enough at the moment. Can Chiellini play as a CB?

We don't know if Olivera and Kapo will become good enough to be in our starting lineup, and Appiah doesn't look as solid as Emerson (yet ;))

Well I think he is just showing a projection of the players we have in our books now, and that possible signings and departures leave the squad as is. Just shows that Moggi has to do some work next summer.

I made that projected formation with the possible retirements of Nedved, Thuram, and Emerson held constant. Not knowing if any will retire after 2006, its just a fail-safe lineup considering the "what ifs".

But I do agree the side lacks the quality of the current team, it's fairly obvious. But I do hope players such as Olivera and Kapo can become key players for us, much like Nedved and Zidane respectively.

BTW I suspect Chiellini can play a left-center back role. After all he is considered the "new Maldini."

Of course, and as Andy pointed out, it just goes to show that we have work to do when we lose a whole bunch of essential players to retirement. Then again, if Olivera and Kapo do come good, that's a huge burden off our shoulders in finding suitable replacements for their respective roles

Okay, thanks for the info. I don't really know much about Chiellini so I wasn't sure ;)
