Well, here it is then.

Buffon

Zebina - Andrade - Chiellini - Molinaro

Camoranesi - Tiago - Almiron - Nedved

Trezeguet - Del Piero
good question...an uncertain Yes would be my response
a lot of you seem conviced that Tiago and Almiron can be counted on as the only DM's..Neither of them are particularly good tacklers so they have to share defensive responsiblities and defend by keeping possesion.

That's as good a choice as any...except I don't have faith in Zebina...

That was what I think Ranieri will field, not exactly what I would field, however. If it was me, I would play the 4-3-3 with Zanetti sitting in front of the defense allowing Tiago and Almiron more freedom to roam forward.

But if Ranieri will use the 4-4-2 with Tiago and Almiron in the center, we'll have good possession indeed and that will have to make up for the lack of tackling prowess. I suppose I'd experiment with that and see how well we will cope without a pure defensive midfielder.

It was Makalele.

I would have never thought a team playing 2 CMs could not only work, but also be a league winning combo had I not seen what Manure did with the Scholes-Carrick partnership.

It might work..but to be honest if i was Ranieri i wouldnt take the risk..especially that they are both newcomers..

I agree that a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 is the way to go..with Nedved and Camo on the flanks..Tiago-almiron as Cm's and Zanetti behind them to give them protection

Your suggestion leaves no space for Del Piero though.

if we play 4-5-1 then who is the only forward? trez? this system worked for arsenal, but trez doesnt have the skill to move around players with ball, so he waits his moment all alone in front.

i would so much more like to see something like this in that case:

----------------gk-------------
-----cd-------cd-------cd-----
fb---------------------------fb
----------cm--cm------------
---rw-----------------lw-----
--------------st--------------
lippi used that kind of system, because there are 3 central defenders, fullbacks can have more freedom and support attack.
Personally i think chiellini would make a better central defender (still angry about balza leaving), we could use brazzo as one fullback/wingback, i dont know about the other one though, thats someone we should look for in the market.

Also dont get interrupted by the abbreviations. lw doesnt mean using natural left winger, just a forward who would playing more deep and on the left side, dp for example, and on the right camo could play.
But i think that kind of formation is more suited to european games and in serie a a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 is enough. Besides that kind of formation would need two quality fullbacks (we dont have zambro anymore)

I dont see why it wont work for juventus too...i think Trez is more than capable of playing the lone striker role..He holds the ball up pretty well..and he will get enough support from the midfield..But i think that a 4-5-1 should only be used in europe and in tough serie a matches like Inter or Milan...in normal serie a matches a 4-4-2 would be enough..

I think a Tiago-Almiron partnership would get found out if played against quality opposition..theres no ball winner in that partnership.thats why i think Zanetti should be played in that case.

I agree..a system like this needs fullbacks that are able to provide width and attacking ability..i think Chielleni can offer that on the left..but then i'd go with Brazzo on the right and play Grygera as a CB..also a formation like this means it isnt neccesary for an anchorman to be in the midfield..but for this system you need at least another quality centerback..
Another positive of this system is that it would give palladino and Criscito more chances to play.

well i have my doubts, you know there are games where you aint gona see a single action from trez, his no henry who would run around and dribble past opponents. Besides trez has "been used to" playing with a partnering forward (either dp, or when zlatan was still here).
Trez usually stays forward and i think we would have many offside situations, with long passes from midfield. chelsea had similar problem when they had crespo, who was in every game offside.

If we don't get another Cb I think our team will look like this. THe only thing is I wish we could get a better DM than Zanetti. Would love to see Sissoko or Gilberto Silva.

-------------------------Buffon--------------------------
Zebina/Sali----Grygera------Andrade-------Chiellini

-------------------------- Zanetti-----------------
------------------Tiago ---------- Almiron -----------------

------Camo/Marchionni--- Trez----Del Piero/Palladino

That's how i would see the formation juve would probably play if they dont buy any other new players..altho i would swap almiron with nedved and yes i agree 100% i really wish there is a better dm than zanetti,he is good but i would be happier with either mascherano/g dilva/sissoko..are you guys watching mascherano in the coppa,he is incredible..

flat four four two formation lets not complcate things from the start! Del Piero hasent got the engine anymore to play wide striker and his quality goes with it. Play natural position we are taking about Trez and Del Piero a great partnership why fuk with it!
