You are forgetting that Nedved might still retire and Camo looks at his way out as well, how are you going to play 4-4-2 without those two?
Thats a big IF there, for the moment both Camo and Neddy seem to be available,
Marchionni is still here too and lets not forget Salih
We have 4 quality wingers!

Really, I consider it a big if when Camo decides to stay and Nedved wants to play one more year. Who will play on the left ? To play 4-4-2 we need at least one more winger. You can't play a season with Marchionni and Salhi as wingmen.

how can u say it wont b entertaining Tiago and Almiron are both ball players who control and pass brillantly, i find it terrfic to watch. i think it will b entertaining football!
The fact that both are central midfielders and none are truly attacking minded players, thats why i think it won't be entertaining, and when a team uses two central midfielders they usually have the pacey wingers,i wouldn't really call nedved and camoranesi pacey,i dont know, thats how i see it,altho it could well be a strong line up i just dont believe it would be entertaining..

sadly thats Mr.Fabio Hat's work there, and many ppl associate 442 with boring football which is not true at all.

I think the 442 with Almiron and Tiago would be too offensive. The work rate of Tiago is great but am suspicious of that of Almiron's. If we are going to play that then those two will have to have double the work rate.

i agree with that.:agree: but if they can double there work rate it may just work.. and if they both turn it up a level it will b a joy to watch.

Double the work rate eh..?never really thought of it that way, maybe that could work, but i still assume that playing with two central midfielders could work only it wont be that entertaining..and not only mr crapello's work, take a look at Valencia and MU,they have pacey wingers to go along with their two central midfielders..that's all im trying to say here, with juve's wingers probably being neddy and camo,i just doubt that it would be that entertaining..

And why would you think that tiago and almiron would be too attacking..?they're both not really the ball winners, but they're not really that attacking minded players..

keep the old element of suprise huh? It does keep your opponenets on their toes, but at the same time if the formation changes too much it destorys the understanding between the players.

well i have my doubts, you know there are games where you aint gona see a single action from trez, his no henry who would run around and dribble past opponents. Besides trez has "been used to" playing with a partnering forward (either dp, or when zlatan was still here).
Trez usually stays forward and i think we would have many offside situations, with long passes from midfield. chelsea had similar problem when they had crespo, who was in every game offside.
I dont think you have to be a great dribbler to play as a lone striker..proof of that is RVN has played as a lone striker many times for R.Madrid...but ya he might be more used to playing with a partner..so a 4-3-3 might be a better idea...
we dont have 2 quality DMs...only Zanetti and Tacchi maybe (Nocerino still unproven)...
they dont have to be 2 destroyers..they could be Tiago and Almiron..though like i said i dont really think thats a good idea
ok 4-4-2 it is then..i dont think it will entertaining to watch, but hey,we're no madrid, winning above entertaining...
I agree with Sateeh on this one..Fabio Capello made everyone think that 4-4-2 means boring football:agree:

You dont have to have pacy wingers for a 4-4-2 to be offensive or entertaining..Arsenal play a 4-4-2 with central midfielders as wingers(Hleb-Rosicky) but they still are entertaining.

I know this will never happen but if Ranieri used a classic 4-4-2 IMO Almiron should be dropped for Zanetti.

    --------------------Buffon------------------
    Grygera---Andrade---NewCB---Chiellini
    --------------Zanetti---Tiago--------------
    -------------------Nedved------------------
    Camo----------------------------Del Piero
    --------------------Trez--------------------

Zanetti as defensive cover in midfield while Tiago can create from a deeper position. Nedved abit more of a central attackigng role but can also move out left to support Del Piero and then you got Camoranesi coming down the right flank. This formation = Champions of Italy 2007/2008

if we play 4-5-1 then who is the only forward? trez? this system worked for arsenal, but trez doesnt have the skill to move around players with ball, so he waits his moment all alone in front.

i would so much more like to see something like this in that case:

    ----------------gk-------------
    -----cd-------cd-------cd-----
    fb---------------------------fb
    ----------cm--cm------------
    ---rw-----------------lw-----
    --------------st--------------
lippi used that kind of system, because there are 3 central defenders, fullbacks can have more freedom and support attack.
Personally i think chiellini would make a better central defender (still angry about balza leaving), we could use brazzo as one fullback/wingback, i dont know about the other one though, thats someone we should look for in the market.

Also dont get interrupted by the abbreviations. lw doesnt mean using natural left winger, just a forward who would playing more deep and on the left side, dp for example, and on the right camo could play.
But i think that kind of formation is more suited to european games and in serie a a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 is enough. Besides that kind of formation would need two quality fullbacks (we dont have zambro anymore)
We don't have the people to play such a formation dude. We don't have talented wingbacks that can both attack and defend with equal capability, so I think that formation is out of the question. Now buy Dani Alves and Antunes and we may have a different story.

But I don't like the system to begin with.

It's possilbe. That midfield is strong and talented enough to keep posession, but the problem is when the other team is attacking. Is Tiago going to be able to take on a more defensive minded role?

ugh I can't wait for the friendlies to start!
