So, conte for the 4th? time playing marchisio as a trequartista. While it obviously is less effective then the regular formation, what could this tell us ?
Also take in mind, pirlo has been fading. Could mean quite a few things actually, but i have two favorites.

1) the 4-3-1-2 transition.

We have 5 very good cm's (mvpap) with marchisio playing there, we actually have a diamond on the field, one striker, and wingbacks.
Because we dont have llorente yet, and marchisio isnt used to the position, it doesnt work all that well yet.

now, if we keep this diamond on the midfield, and field pogba/pirlo ; vidal,asamoah/pogba ; marchisio, we got a very solid team in the center.
considering peluso's growth, we could see a return to a 4backline with licht,barz/bon, chiel, peluso.
Up front, we'd have llorente, and vucinic.
-> this formation doesnt require incomming transfers, but a very good SS would definatly boost quite a bit.
-> suarez beeing that SS could be massive

2) the 4-2-3-1 transition

this focusses more on pirlo's fading out. take pirlo out of the team, and put vidal+asamoah/pogba to controll the midfield from deep.
one lone targetstriker is used. Only diffrence is that llorente would be magnificently better at it then vucinic.
between the 2 holding cm's and llorente, 3 am's are fielded. central is marchisio, making most of the space in the center, and his offensive ability.
next to marchisio, two offensive minded am's would be fielded. preferable one inside forward and a more natural winger.
To support this, the backline is also reverted to 4backline.

-> this formation can be played with current players+ llorente, as vucinic would be inside forward, and pepe the more wing style player. however this is not ideal.
-> this formation doesnt need a new ss but 2 am's. Drexler (who we scouted before) and isco come to mind.
-> suarez, beeing relatively multirole could also shine in a more freeroled inside forward role.
-> technically, it could also give space for giovinco, considering the amount of support he has in it.

it tells us pogba is too good to bench, and he doesnt want to bench his lover marchisio.

next season with vidal gone, you wont see this formation again

I agree however even though these formatio d would give us a more atttacking style of play, i cant see conte dropping the 3 man backli e
