Iuliano and Tacchi leaving. These are 2 great players comitted to Juve like few have been in the past.

I don't want them to leave, but I guess it's the right move for them (to play some football instead of warming the bench) and for Juve to cash in and bring younger players.

12/2/2004 12:41:00 PM
Lecce midfielder Christian Ledesma has signed a contract extension with the Serie A club.
The Argentine’s previous deal ran until 2007, but he has signed on for an extra two years, taking him up to 2009.

There has been much interest in the youngster over the past year, with the likes of Inter and Roma both being linked.

Tacchinardi-Barca Rumours Won’t Go Away
12/2/2004 12:18:00 PM
Barcelona continue to be linked with a January move for Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi.
Juve have denied the claims, but reports suggest that the player will join on loan for the remainder of the season as Barca look to ease their injury crisis in central midfield.

Barca president Joan Laporta met with Juve Vice-president Roberto Bettega at the weekend and an agreement was apparently reached.

If he's meant to go, then so be it. I am tired of all this unending drama. Appiah is more useful, so if Tacchi's unhappy, go!

The fact that Capello chooses Thuram to captain the team ahead of Alessio when he plays confirms what the coach thinks of him, I hope he stays but I think he'll go.

Tacchi not off to Barca Thursday 9 December, 2004

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Barcelona are set to fail in their bid to sign Alessio Tacchinardi from Juventus in the New Year.

The midfielder is believed to be Barca’s primary January transfer target but the player looks set to remain in Turin.

"I really don’t think that Tacchinardi will be leaving for Spain," suggested his agent Alessandro Moggi.

"I firmly believe that he will stay at Juventus which will satisfy both the player and the club."

The Italian’s future at the Stadio Delle Alpi has been in doubt since the departure of Marcello Lippi.

Tacchinardi was a first team regular under the now Italy boss but he’s struggled to get a game this term.

New Coach Fabio Capello prefers to play with Emerson and the young Manuele Blasi in central midfield.

That fuelled speculation that a Liga switch was on the agenda for the former Atalanta youth product.

Meanwhile, Juventus are again being linked with a move for Marek Jankulovski of Udinese.

Latest reports suggest that they will offer £3.5m and the services of Rodrigo Taddei - if Juve can sign him from Siena in January.

Barca still chasing Tacchi
Monday 20 December, 2004

Barcelona are still hoping to sign Alessio Tacchinardi from Juventus during the January transfer window.

The Spanish giants want the midfielder but the Delle Alpi outfit seem unwilling to release him.

But Barca have admitted that they still plan to make a New Year approach for the Italian international.

"We still haven’t rejected the idea of signing him," stated President Joan Laporta. "He wants to play regularly and that isn’t happening at Juventus.

"However, boss Frank Rijkaard isn’t putting me under any pressure to sign players as he says he’s happy with the squad available."

Tacchinardi doesn’t presently feature in Fabio Capello’s plans and an exit may be on the cards.

He is seemingly fourth choice with the Bianconeri behind Emerson, Manuele Blasi and Stephen Appiah.

Despite extending his contract with the club last season, the Italian could be close to bringing his 10-year relationship with the Old Lady to an end.

Barcelona are interested in the former Atalanta player given their midfield injury crisis at the Nou Camp.

They have also been linked with Olivier Dacourt of Roma but the Spaniards are on good terms with Juventus.

That after they made a similar move last January when they signed Edgar Davids from the club.

Juve eye Tacchi alternative Friday 24 December, 2004

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus are looking for a new central midfielder as a possible replacement for Alessio Tacchinardi.

The Italian is being tipped to join Barcelona in January and he would need substituting if released.

Whispers in the peninsula suggest that there are two players who boss Fabio Capello is particularly keen on.

The first is Inter’s Cristiano Zanetti (pictured), a player who won Lo Scudetto at Roma under Capello in 2001.

However, there are problems with the proposed swoop as the Nerazzurri aren’t keen on strengthening a rival.

Inter already released Fabio Cannavaro to Juve in the summer – a decision that has backfired.

An alternative for the Old Lady of Italian football would be the impressive Fiorentina starlet Christian Obodo.

The Nigerian, who has been immense for the Viola this term, is being watched by transfer guru Luciano Moggi.

Fiorentina don’t want to lose him in January but relations between the two clubs are good after the moves of Fabrizio Miccoli, Enzo Maresca and Giorgio Chiellini.

Obodo wouldn't be bad, but if we're going to replace Tacchi with another defensive midfielder I'd like to get Javier Mascherano. These two guys are the best options imo as we could use Miccoli or Salas as bait.

Zanetti is a useful player. He isnt bad and he isnt good. He is average :) and a good benchwarmer, but why change one player that loves Juve really much for someone like Zanetti?
