What I described will ring true, whether or not your personal experience or view on it differs is besides the point - it is a proven pattern.
I'm glad that people are volunteering to help, we could use more of that in Denmark.
We are definitely in agreement here, but I think you're talking about long term exposure to such pictures. This is in fact the first. We are desensitized to pictures of masses trying to get on boats, because we've seen a lot of that. Dead children, not so much.

The reason I find it so remarkable that Belgians are trying to help is that we often have a very cynical and destructive attitude towards refugees and immigrants in general.

It does.

An estimated 9 million Syrians have fled their homes since the outbreak of civil war in March 2011, taking refuge in neighbouring countries or within Syria itself. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), over 3 million have fled to Syria's immediate neighbours Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq. 6.5 million are internally displaced within Syria. Meanwhile, under 150,000 Syrians have declared asylum in the European Union, while member states have pledged to resettle a further 33,000 Syrians. The vast majority of these resettlement spots – 28,500 or 85% – are pledged by Germany.

From 2011 to 2013 when the acticle was written plus the site counts Syrians only.

What a convenient couple of details to withhold.

Not like your initial posting suggested there would be 150k refugees in europe all in all at this point

but he is right. unlike turkey, germany is close to the syrian border,
we should take more responsibility of what happens in our neighbouring country.

Germany holding the leash of eu. There were only 150,000 refugees in whole Europe, after 4 years, they finally decided to let more of them in. You can check it from different sources.
If Germany was holding the leash refugees would be distributed in europe equitably. Right now germany and friends are victimized by a dozen leecher countries that can only take.

#MigrantMarch trending on German twitter
yea, because there is war and ISIS in Hungary I guess :boh:

The regime killed one of the leaders of Druze minority at Suwaida city which was somehow calm until this incident today. His followers reacted by destroying the statue of Hafez Al-Assad and attacking police stations in the city and the neighboring villages. Will this expand to cause chaos at this area too?

Why don't they just go to the rich arab countries like UAE, Qatar and the rest? Surely if Indian and Paki people can do the dirty work over there then a refugee wanting out of a war torn country should have no issues doing work over there?
