On the topic of kids, i just don't know how a person can be so inhumane to the extent that he would torture a child. There have been so many reported cases of systematic torture of children in both Syria and Libya, the most notorious case of course being Hamza el Khatib in Syria. A friend of mine who has just recently come back from the Tunisian - Libyan border where there are thousands of Libyan families stranded there, has just told me of some horrible stories that have happened to children there, its unbelievable and it just makes you sick in the stomach. Never imagined such cruelty was possible.
True but I find that picture (the one I posted above your comment) disturbing even if it's only a symbolic picture.

Well disturbing is touching, but in a negative way. :p

I like Turkey's stance on the Syrian issue, unlike their stance in the start of the Libyan revolution. Even though i have to admit, that they changed their stance 360 degrees in Libya, and now are one of the most helpful countries.

    What a coincidence!! :D

After replacing the defense minister yesterday, the former defense minister was found dead in his house. Official Tv says it is a death for normal reasons, but those who follow the Syrian issues know how many politicians were killed there by the regime when they have any different opinion.

Some rumours say that he was replaced because of the fear of Bashar that he may lead a coup against him as he did not agree totally on the way of dealing with the demonstrations.

Anyway, here are the news in Arabic

It seems his death was a rumour according to the Syrian Tv now.

I think Syria would have protested even if they had the Tunisian president instead of Bashar.
Maybe. But Syrian people have not forgotten about the Hama massacre in the 80's, its the reason why Hama is one of the most active cities in terms of protests.

As for the Libyan situation, there is no regime as totalitarian as the Libyan one except the N.Korean one which is probably worst. Its amazing the way Gedaffi has shut us out from the rest of the world, i am shocked to find how little Arabs know about Libya in Gedaffi era, let alone non Arabs.

totalitarian is not about shutting the country down from the outside world, and fred if the hama revolt of the 80 succeeded syria would be in a much worse place imo like i said earlier keep an eye on egypt
AlAsad family have been doing more harm than just closing the country:
    Killing people without any reason.
Arresting anybody who has a different opinion on anything, and not revealing if he is arrested or not. Thousands of Syrians have disappeared since decades just because they thought loudly.
Making the whole country a farm for your family.
Nobody can make any profit in the country except through your thugs.
Having more than 10 intelligence forces to stop people from thinking about freedom.
Oil is just for Al-Asad family and the rest of the people "have gifted" it to the "leader" according to official media.
More than 2000 female teachers were sent home before less than one years just because they wear burqa.

    Do you want more?

I don't know about that, and neither do you. I know you didn't say this, but do you think that justifies the hama massacre? and do you think Hafez el Assad killed all those people because he thought Syria would be worse off, or because he wanted to cling on to power?

the list would be much longer with the 'brotherhood' in power, no one is saying this regime is good but the alternative is much worse imo

It is your personal expectations and judgement and I can't see how that should be considered a standard to evaluate how horrible any regime is.
