I consider myself Armenian, because I speak Armenian and my friends and my family are Armenians. I am Syrian at the same time, cause I lived most of my life here. I am probably the least nationalist in this forum, if you ask me something about Armenia, I can't answer, I don't even know who is the prime minister of Armenia or which party rules. I am telling you these just that no one gets any wrong idea about the nationalism, you can tell, that I don't belong to any nation, I am a world citizen :p

it's not about Syria only, where ever I go and live, nothing will change, I won't have any nationalistic feelings, I feel Armenian because I was raised in Armenian speaking family and friends, it's my mother language, and not because I see Armenia above Syria or any other nation.

I am part of this country, my opinion, Rami's or Gaith's count in the end in this country and the rest of 20 Millions, any other person's opinion, who doesn't have to do anything with this country, doesn't count. I don't mean opinions exactly thou, but interfering is what I am talking about.

Best thing is to forget it, like you said it. Cause I can't accept when someone tells me that Syria's future shouldn't interest me, and I shouldn't have a word or voting for Syria!
What do you say to the families of the 300 people that died in these events?

You know its part of the Arab culture to glorify their leaders, we have this sort of follower culture, so sometimes people blindly love their leaders even if those leaders oppress them. I'm never surprised when i see Arabs defending dictators. You're not an Arab, and as far as i can tell from your posts on the forum in general you don't really have that mentality. Frankly i'm surprised that you aren't strongly against Bashar. If you hadn't told me your opinion and i had to guess it, i would have expected you to be against Bashar more than anyone else.

Unless your argument is that you believe, that the only other alternative to Bashar is an Islamist government that will oppress minorities(despite Bashar oppressing minorities such as Kurds as well), then thats another case. But i really doubt that is true.

If you had followed my posts in the forum (not just this thread) from the very first day that I joined here, you would have noticed that I always talked against the government and secret agents, made fun of them all the time.

The alternative is indeed an Islamist regime, and the born of the brotherhood. I witness those kind of people's hate all the time, they will interfere with our lives and look at us as infidels, not just that, they will ban many things here, and make this place backwarded..

The moment I see an opposition, that their aim is to make this country more civilized and modern, you will see me support them, only an idiot would refuse something like that.

As much as I hate the lifestyles of some of the victims, or as much as I opposed on what they wanted, I absolutely feel sorry for them and their families. What were you thinking? That I will celebrate their death? I feel terrible when I see a dead animal lying on the street, so imagine how I will feel if it was a human, no matter where that human belongs to or whatever he thinks..

I am glad you admitted that Arabs (and Muslims too btw) love to worship leaders, and follow them blindly no matter what they do, and I am glad your brought this up! You think it doesn't drive me crazy to see people here go with "bl roh bl dam" 24/7? It's not the leaders only, you exaggerate and do worship your prophet too, right? you have to admit that too. This is my problem with religions, one shouldn't exaggerate with religions, that action is dangerous.

People need to focus on educating/modernizing themselves, with reading books, having arguments about these civilizations, instead they pray 24/7 and let life goes on without doing anything useful. Something happens they go with "Allah ou akbar", they go to demonstrations with " allah u akbar" when someone dies "allah ou akbar" when they beat someones "allah ou akbar" for fuck sake even when they are on tv a footballer for example instead of saying hello or good evening they go with "bismillah il rahman il rahim". you know what I hated most? when someone was shot on the demonstrations, they were all "allah ou akbar, la ilaha illalah" and carrying the injured person with all that madness in a very wrong way, while you know very well when a person is injured, you see how the ambulance comes and you see how the professionals carry them, cause any wrong move could kill the patient.

You might think I went off topic with all these, but if the people are not civilized, and are not educated, and instead they live their lives like people were in stone age, then they don't have the right to ask anything, cause nothing will change, an Islamist regime will only make it worse..

Just to tell you something, so that you might think about this subject more, or will try to look at it from my view, take Turkey's example. You are aware how many decades Ataturk and his party ruled Turkey with dictatorship, no? If he didn't, Turkey wouldn't be this good today. and now that an extremist is on the rule now, it's going backwarded again..

But how do you expect them to be civilized/modernized/educated and all this if the regime itself isn't giving anyone free of choice, your rights of thinking, your rights of doubting and judging this and that, everything is controlled, from press to your telephone number to your neighbors.

I know I can't be civilized and educated in these circumstances.

You're right concerning several things looking at your post but keeping the regime will never bring you the civilization you're asking for.

It's all good for israel but i just can't see what's good about being a third class citizen and treated like blacks in apartheid in your own country. This is hypocrisy. It would have been disaster if a Muslim come to power by force in Paris and use Sheria but it's all good when a Jewish dictator come to power in 1000 years old Muslim country and massacre 10000 because they don't wear hat.

It's not as terrible as you are seeing it. Not everything is controlled by the government, and plus there is something called internet, and it exists for more than a decade. Everyone has the access to everything. yet I don't see them open-minded, or see them try to educate themselves a bit! Expecting everything from the government is just lame. Instead of eating mhshi and kababs everyday, they could get a book, or do something useful instead no? They have that choice, you know?

First time I hear someone calls Ataturk a Jew :D I would understand if you called him Greek, since he was born and lived there until he was ten, or usually some people call Armenians, to someone they hate "bunun anasi kesin Ermeni :D".

You definitely know more about him than I do, but you have to admit that what he did was good for the country in the end, with leaving the details aside, you have a beautiful and successful country, many Muslim countries take you as a good example, and try to be like yours. You owe this to him.

Sizin meselede baya ciddi ha, Arablardan daha fena, bigun cok fena kapisicaksiniz, oyle gorunuyor..

My whole point was, how can you expect people to change mentally when they have a dictatorship?

I don't want extremist religious people too, just like you, but I refuse to believe that it's the only choice the Syrian have if they vanish their current regime.

I'll have to answer your question with a question...(though it's not fair:D)

Are you aware that the Syrian secret service are playing the religious card more than the extremists themselves? Scaring the Christians and Druz from Sunni's? Playing the sects cards is their only chance.

Are you? :D
The majority of Sunnis in Syria has been calling for a long time for an Islami state. That's I am sure of.

Me, Rami and Gaith were born and raised in the same country too. and it's not because we all are rich people, I know a lot of poor people who are educated and open minded, and I know a lot of rich ones who live like animals.
