I'm really happy that the people in the most powerful nation of the world, who get to chose the leader of the most powerful nation of the world really know about the rest of the world and global politics. Otherwise, it would be just dangerous to let them chose the next president, right?

Now see, generalizations such as this are not very fair and lead to further notions of prejudice that are not needed. The people in this video are obviously idiots if they are indeed expressing their own thoughts, and sure, we have a fair amount of imbeciles in this country...the idiots in the woodland areas who only care about guns and therefore vote for Bush...the idiots in the supposed "Heartland" of the country who vote conservatively because their fathers say so...the idiots who vote for one ticket and one ticket only even if they resign themselves to strife in the future...even the idiots who nut themselves watching cars go around in cricles on a race track before thousands of other idiots. There is no question people in the aforementioned catagories give our country a bad name, however that bad name should not be given to the population as a whole.

I see it too often and the only people who realize they are subject to such generalizations are only those affected by it. Please recall that in the two previous Presidential Elections the people of the United States have basically been split in half, only with the Republicans winning marginally on both accounts. Making degrading generalizations about the ability of our people as a whole to make decisions on such matters is basically the same thing as labelling Middle Easterners, Arabs, or Africans terms that are not very flattering and terms we all know are wrong. Please keep in mind there are idiots everywhere, and that the opinions of quite a select and imbecilic few do not represent the population as a whole...people should know better than this, but I guess not.

And this post by all means is not in defense of Americans who have such disgusting views...only in defense of those who see things clearly.

No. Some Americans are stupid. Some Bahraini's are stupid. Some Dutch are stupid. Stupidity is not restricted by a country's borders..

    ;)
Nawaf, you couldn't be more right.

Only problem is that stupid Dutch or stupid Bahraini jokes, as Zlatan alluded, don't get the same mileage.

"So did you hear the one about the stupid Surinamese guy?!..." :dontcare:

    ...generalizations... bad
Don't worry Andy. By and large, the people who generalise like that aren't really worth bothering about. It's sad that such an incredibly wealthy country like the US still has so many ignorant, backwards citizens, but it's no reflection on the rest of you.

As others have said here, every country has stupid voters. Ireland, for example, has had the same bunch of corrupt wankers in power for about 24 of the last 26 years. Why? People still voting on civil war lines - not just how teir daddy voted, but how their great grandad voted.

Look, there's no two ways about it, most nations and most races have their own gray areas. In this case however, I think it would be safe to conclude Swagster, someone with an IQ level as yourself for example would definitely be a minority moreso in the US. Of course, this analogy stems from my interactions as well as those of friends and family with Americans in the social sphere.

Yes, a generalisation of this magnitude would be unfair as Andy correctly stated, but having said that, I wouldnt exactly call the US, the intellectual capital of the world.
