Juve should do everything they can to land Rodrygo, give them whatever they want, that’s a player to break the bank for
His profile actually fits in very well with the ‘trio’ upfront formation we are working on, but currently i think there’s more than a few top teams after him and a bidding war is inevitable, while RM’s initial asking price is no less than €90M, which kind of already phases us out…

He’d probably be an ideal signing for us but simply can’t afford it atm.

Maybe we’ll stand a better chance in a couple of years after he doesn’t convince enough or doesn’t adapt well at his new team, which seems like a track we would follow, improbable otherwise.

Also madrid is another atalanta, their players are generally to be avoided

There’s surely been lots of hits and misses when it comes to them so we can never know, although us personally didn’t do all that bad at picking up scraps from them in the recent past, but neither did they ever cost nearly as much as what Rodrygo is rumored to go for.

Ronaldo transfer almost killed the club financially while all the rest are underwhelming flops. Maybe not Higuain but he wasn't worth the fee either.
We got CR7 at a wrong time, covid caused financial collapse, a large portion of the club's income disappeared, including revenue from stadium ticket sales. CR7 did a magnificent job, 101 goals in three years alongside most selling jersey of evey year. In fact, what has caused this current predicament/downfall is overpaying for some over-hyped footballers like De Ligt and keep attaching mediocre and injury prone like Arthur.

Damn even forgot for a moment that we broke the bank for CR7 back then also, was thinking more of Khedira and Morata that were largely good for us while not costing a fortune, agree on the rest though, we got screwed royally by covid in that period and as you said not only…

Either way the consensus among us fans should probably be that no one player is worth breaking the bank for, more so if the overall squad itself is incomplete or in decline.

The main problem wasn't the 100m we paid him. Paying that astronomical salary severely taking Juve down.

When i say breaking the bank for one specific player i do mean it as a full package fee+wages, although in CR7’s case compared to other instances there were valid reasons why his wages were so high, especially when looking at how we renegotiated most sponsorship contracts after his arrival, along with all the increased media coverage and overall following we got from it, but covid did sure play a number on us at the worst of times.

There were a lot of different reasons for our downfall, but the main one imo were the choices we made in midfield, starting in the summer of 2019, but especially from 2020 onwards.
Even though it wasn't even close in quality to the 2012-2015 midfield, Matuidi-Pjanic-Khedira was quality and a very balanced midfield that won a lot.
We replaced them with players who were either bad, not good enough, mental midgets, or injured a lot (Arthur, McKennie, Bentancur, Ramsey, Rabiot). All the attempts to fix these mistakes were futile. Locatelli didn't live up to the expectations, while Zakaria, Paredes, Pogba v.2, Alcaraz and the kids were just average or seriously bad. Last summer we made two more mistakes with Douglas Luiz and Koopmeiners. One quality midfielder in 5 summers (Thuram) was just not good enough and that is why we are where we are.
