His output may still not be there in terms of goals and assists but when Chico is fired up you have a feeling that anything can happen once he gets the ball out wide on the right flank. And his workrate when out of possession is just incredible as well. Plenty of room to grow.

Di Marzio:

Juventus offer 22M for Chico, Porto asks for 25M to close the deal.

If this is the case, we will sign him soon imo. And not bad if we get a little 5M discount.
The problem with Chico deal was that Porto doesnt want installment payment. They want cash upfront.
If we can force them to accept installment, good for us then.

Alot might disagree but the Saudi league will rival the top European leagues within a few years if it already hasn't. No FFP unlimited resources in money, they can almost buy who they want. There will be exceptions but before long players wont care all that much about European competitions and would sooner set themselves and their family for life. We'd be foolish to think this wont last, because it sure is.

I do like that we seem to focusing on attackers who can play both centrally and out wide. Being unpredictable to defend against is something I've wanted for a long time.

Looking at which moves we still need to make:

Attacking 3
Yildiz, Kolo, Connie, David with a Mr X still to arrive plus I suppose as the 6th.

Midfield 4
If we're using two CMs we're sorted. Loca and Thuram with whichever two on the bench.

Wing backs looking weak. Cambiaso is our best one. Weah's pace and occasional goals make him good enough as backup and Coppa etc. Alberto and Kostic are nowhere near. We need two new good ones.

Back 3
Bremer is so good that he makes whoever he plays with better. Gatti looked much improved start of last season next to him. Because of this I think this is an area of secondary concern. Rugani replaces Kelly and Savona can be the 5th. Bremer, Rugani, Kalulu, Gatti, Savona.

Goalkeeper
At this point we may be lucky to keep MdG he was just that good at the CWC. If Perin leaves we need to somehow find a young guy who doesn't mind being backup but who is also good enough to be Greg's eventual replacement.

So in order of priority we need:
2x wingbacks
1x versatile attacker
1x backup GK

I just want Lichtsteiner and Asamoah back tbh

25m for him is a ridiculously good deal imo.
The price tag is a standard price for transfer market 2025/26. Surely we can't find a player like his profile with the same price. Porto easily able to sell him to EPL clubs for around 40m next year.

Rayan Ait Nouri - Wolves, £36.3m
Marcus Bettinelli - Chelsea,
undisclosed Rayan Cherki - Lyon, £34m

Arsenal transfers
Kepa Arrizabalaga - Chelsea, £5m Martin Zubimendi - Real Sociedad, £51m

Westerners wont jump ship to this sportswashing scheme. I'm sure South Americans and Africans with different values wouldn't care where they play. But a League in a country with those morals and values simply wont appeal to western media and viewers. Can be compared to the disatrous Qatar World Cup. A World Cup that should have been cancelled.

Get off your high horse. Plenty of Europeans are already playing in the Saudi league. Money trumps all over your so called morals and values.

Nah. These sandbox leagues only attract players for a season or two at the end of their careers. The top national teams don't follow these leagues. It's a retirement destination or similar to what El Shaarawy or Carrasco did when he went to China and earned their pension only to return to Europe a few seasons later

That's not even true, there are already alot of Europeans there, players don't give 2 shit about morals as long as the money is right and more often than not they'll pay it.
If someone offered you 20 mill a year to play abroad, would you really care about values and morals knowing that money will set you and your family for life?

I see your point. And yes, many people would take those money and go for a season or two. But they would not go there for a career.

That remains to be seen, player's who have tried to leave haven't been all that easy, mainly because nobody can or is willing to come close to matching their earnings or however much the club want in transfer fee.

Look at that spending.

Sunderland probably spent more money so far then Serie A clubs combined.
