It was enough to watch games he played against us to see Loca was their deep playmaker. It was enough to watch all of last season and see he was doing very very well in that deep role for the most part. I don't get this need to diminish and say he cannot do this or that.

You prefer him higher, you think he's better there? Fine.

But please stop saying he can't play there, he's awful, he's wasted etc. He may be statistically wasted only (although he was at his normal numbers last season), but his impact is always good when he plays deep. It is an extremely important, responsible and almost prideful position for Italians. If Pirlo played higher up he would have had even better stats, but he made his mark playing deep also. Not every play has to have phenomenal individual stats.
Locatelli is not wasted as Regista, Juventus is. Because there are no other midfielder that play better at more advanced position than him. So if we have the kind of player like peak De Bruyne/SMS in front of him, he will success in regista role and playing great

how are we stuck with so many midfielders wtf

Pogba Locatelli McKennie Zakaria Rabiot Arthur Miretti Paredes Fagioli

At least two should've left, 6 is plenty enough man

With their injury record 7 is okay, McKennie will be out for at least few months as always, Zakaria same case, Pogba already is out.

should really try and sell McKennie or Zakaria before the deadline, they’re completely redundant and have enough value to other clubs as neither are on crazy wages and still relatively young. Miretti is everything Allegri wanted McKennie to be offensively, while Rabiot fills the pure DM role.

When rabiot's mum asks for a few million more net than what he gets paid now, how the fuck are we meant to make deals happen? Who would want Arthur, when was the last time he played? Sandro moves like a 70 year old...there is only so much our management can do.

I am happy miretti and fagioli stayed. Indont expect half of our midfield group to stay fit for more than 1 month at a time.

Di Maria and kostic were good additions, as will be the return of chiesa. Vlahovic has adequate back up.

Surprised kean stayed...would have thought he would push harder to leave just to get more playing time.

Well, in isolation maybe a 4,5 or 5 mercato. With the financial strains we have, I'd be inclined to give it a solid 7. We fixed a lot of problems.

-1 for not buying a LB (or loaning him out)
-1 for not buying an extra winger/flexible and attacker
-1 for not buying another (left sided) CB

How does our transfer activity compare to Milan and Inter? For a club that hasnt won the league in 2 years and is in broke Serie A and recovering from a big failed bet, I think this is a very solid mercato. We are not on the same level of Bayern or City or Pool nor are we filthy rich like United and Chelsea.
