What’s worse about the defence? Especially “much weaker”? Bremer > De Ligt last season by a country mile. And he is a more aggressive, hard-nosed CB that will suit partnering Bonucci far better than De Ligt.

Chiellini hardly played. 1300 minutes in the league. Gatti is an unknown, but he probably isn’t being asked to be a starter immediately. So it’s not like he’s being asked to fill prime Giorgio’s shoes right away.

Other than that our defence is currently the same. So it seems that our defence is really no different from last season.
No it is not. Alex Sandro is one year older and most probably it means he is even worse.

Bonucci ditto

Add to that we have become thinner there.

As for the mercato so far, 5/10

We see still very weak in the middle and the wing backs. We are also thin in the forward department.

Hard to rate a mercato when we still have at least 4, but hopefully more deals to be done. The only thing that can be said right now is that it surely wont be an 8 or higher, because we're moving at a snails pace and Allegri will have to integrate multiple key players with the season ongoing.

I wrote so far though.

If we dont sign a left footed CB , that alone for me is not addressing the situation . We knew Chiellini is leaving but we decide not to deal with it.
Instead we see Bremer being uncomfortable from playing on the left of the 2 man defense.

From now If we end up with selling Rabiot, loaning out Pelegrini, Kean and Arthur and incoming Kostic, Paredes and Depay.
I give us a 7/10

We'll bring a LB in. I think Cuadrado is being counted as a RWF this year, meaning Danilo and MDS are the RBs and Alex Sandro the only LB then.

Are there any freebies? Did Marcelo find a team? Maybe we'll get somebody on loan.

Alegri sees Kostic as LB too that`s why NO LB signing this summer (apart of Cambiaso tho). If we get rid of Arthur they may decide in bring someone but this very unlikely. There will be max 2 more players - Paredes and Depay/or some mediocre striker like Simeone or Milik

5.5/10 Mercato so far. Kostic is a good addition, finally a player that isn’t one dimensional on our left side. Still gaping holes in this squad though. Defence is much weaker than last season, midfield has improved slightly and attack just doesn’t feel complete - we’ve looked sterile in the final third for the whole of pre season and not scored in the last 2 games.

Considering our defence was leaky last season and it’s actually got worse I’m very concerned going into the season opener.
Yep, I think the same, we are weaker in defense and attack IMO. Obviously Paulo, Matthijs and Alvaro haters would see it in other way

MF is a question mark because I have a lot of faith in Fagioli and maybe Pogba can actually play in some point

Kostic in a 3-5-2 is better than wasting him as a LB in a 4-3-3. Against Madrid and Atletico, we got schooled with this 4-3-3, we are levels below and we'll get torn apart.

A 3-5-2 should be solid against Sassuolo who are pretty dangerous in attack. These teams won't sit back against us, there is no fear of playing against Juve anymore.

Right now below 3 - 5 - 1 - 1 looks the best:
----------------- Vlaho -----------------
---------------- di Maria ----------------
Kostić - Fagioli - Loca - Zakaria - Cuad
----- Bremer - Bonucci - Danilo -------
------------------ Perin -----------------

if Depay will arrive 3 - 5 - 2
----------- Depay ---- Vlaho -------------
Kostić - Loca - di Maria - Zakaria - Cuad
----- Bremer - Bonucci - Danilo ---------
------------------ Perin ------------------

We literally don't have any subs for the wing backs though

He won't play as a left back? When has Allegri ever put a winger as a left or right back. Cuadrado doesn't count. He's more likely to put a left or right back as a winger.
He’s a wingback, not a winger

- - - Updated - - -

Matuidi played as a left back one time.
Was with Sarri.

CDS saying that we offer a loan + option for Paredes.

It are those kind of offers that we’d agree if we were PSG, but somehow modern Juve doesn’t seem capable of pulling off. Let’s hope that it’s true, low risk possibly high reward.
