He plays CM (DM at times) and was 16 in 2020, 17 2021 and currently 18 in 2022 so far, so dont expect high impact in goals and assists yet (its super impressive is a starter already). Especially when he tends to play in 2 man holding mid CM pair (I assume they will eventually give him a more attacking role when he improves further). He looks extremely mature and polished for his young age and technically high level in the games I seen him, intuitive and creative b2b mid. His impact and control in some of the games I seen has been really outstanding. Would defenitely say on eye test this is a future world class player.
I could care less about brittish hype, that doesn't interest me or sway me, if anything I would likely be biased against English players a little due to its media, like most of you are. But I seen Dortmund games on occasion for Haaland and Gio Reyna, and unexpectedly been impressed with Bellingham alot. Especially more so since Reyna barely plays at all this season.
I dont know Schmid, haven't seen Werder much, tune in occasionally for a Bayern, Dortmund or Leipzig games only. But looking at his age, this dude is 22, 4 years older then Bellingham, and a full on attacking midfielder. He should be having more goals and assists then a teenage CM if he is a stand out or good player himself.
P.S when I say top few most impressive young mids, I mean really young ones, it's Wirts (18), Bellingham 18 and Gavi 17, who are so far the most impressive. Wirtz is a bona-fide top player already at his age with his impact. Too bad he tore his ACL this week.
As for people who say they would rather sign SMS, he might be performing better than Pogba at the moment and less injured but since they would more or less demand the same salary (maybe SMS more than Pogba considering the Italian tax law) I'd very much prefer Pogba for 10mln agent fee than SMS for 7-80mln. The 60mln difference could be used for other positions we desperately need.

All I'll say is I primarily watch Bundesliga when I'm not watching Serie A and Bellingham looks good. But nothing worldclass. 18 means nothing. Neymar at 18 looked worldclass. Haaland at 18 looked worldclass. Messi at 18 looked worldclass.
Bellingham doesn't look close. He looks like he'll be a good professional player. Maybe on a top 8 club in England but thats about his limit unless he sees massive improvement. He's too casual in possession, too focused on slick plays and passes, his vision is choppy at best when it comes to seeing the game, and his instincts are the classic "fast kid run fast" relying heavily on his pace in midfield which we all know is a ticking clock in terms of effectiveness.
Again, he's decently good, especially for being 18, but he has shown very little worldclass moments. That's why I think Reyna got more praise before his injury issues. Reyna genuinely showed flashes of true brilliance. And even then, his flashes weren't worldclass level imo.
Time will tell.

Another important factor is how Pogba is going to turn 29 tomorrow. I'm not saying he's a grandpa but we're surely a last big club he'd arrive to.
I actually think Pogba would be a very good addition here. Unlike some, and despite his shitty display at United, I believe he'd boost our squad massively. However, I'd still pick Sergej due to many reasons. Firstly, he's not a pussy like Pogba so I wouldn't expect him to drag his body all over the pitch like he doesn't give a fuck. Secondly, I do believe that Sergej being two years younger adds quite a lot of weight. Thirdly, I believe Sergej is way more versatile and I think he'd be a literally perfect fit for us. Lastly, eventhough I would NOT like that, I do think we'd be able to sell Sergej if necessary in three years and get tons of cash back, because imo there's simply no way he'd flop here, just no way. I'll also add how I think there would be insane synergy between SMS and Locatelli, much higher than pairing our boy with Pogba imo.
I'm also trying to be objective, I wouldn't push for it because he's Serbian. I mentioned it many times before, I wouldn't bring majority of our players. But both Vlahovic and Sergej are perfect match for our club and exactly what we need. He's only 19 and arguably more impressive and seasoned than all the names you mentioned 
5 years ago I would have said the same, but CR7's arrival changed everything. Nothing is impossible anymore. If we truly want a player, we will get him.
Imo, CR7 made the club more attractive to players (international stars). de Ligt wouldn't be here if it weren't for him, and the same can be said about Vlahović. Both idolise CR7.
