Salah was actually kinda good with fiorentina despite the fact that he was asked to play as a support striker with his back to goal, but boy when he turned and had the ball running towards goal serie a defenses didn’t know what to do.

another point I’d like to make, we need to stop targeting ‘registas’, static target men and support strikers.

we seem to be obsessed with finding the new trez pirlo and del piero successors, but the truth is those positions are dead.
Jorginho just won the UCL and European championship, pal. It's not. The problem with it, is that there are very few talents who can actually play it at top level. And if you can't get one of those, you should adapt.

But he was pretty good for Roma in his last two seasons. The amount of goals he scored are definitely rare for Serie A wingers.
Pretty good, yeah. Lots of players are pretty good but the point was and still is he's a completely different animal in England.

Jorginho and the likes of pirlo are totally different

pirlo was a genius passer and conductor with poor defensive abilities. He would get exposed in the modern game without two bullies like vidal marchisio/pogba next to him.

Jorginho while not as good as passer and conductor can actually hold his own defensively, and only required the work of Kante in a 2 man midfield and Barella + Verratti respectively

the days of registas and fantasista specialists are long gone

the game requires prototypes like de bruyne who can do all that while not to that genius level and still be able to cover ground

I see you’re still looking thru rose tinted glasses though so I won’t bother explaining anymore to you

That's why you have more than one midfielder, pal... To fit in some complementary skillsets.

Jorginho is also a pussy defensively. You're clutching at straws to make a point because he's obviously a regista.

De Bruyne, nice. But give me one Pirlo over him every freaking day of the week.

Also, no need to get offended. It's a sign of weakness.

Jorginho is not a pussy defensively lmao he more than well holds his own as is evident in his performances for Chelsea in a 343.

ANOTHER point ID like to make. We as a club seem t be so fixated on tall midfielders (allegri with khedira and rabiot) with horrible center of gravity. Look at Spain and Italy midfields…. You don’t have to be 6’2 to be able to compete physically in midfield, thus my point in proving that Jorginho who was flanked by 5’6 and 5’8 verrati + barella did a great job competing

you’re out your mind if you would pick a DEEP LYING playmaker over a final third overlord like de bruyne in 2022 in OUR situation. No disrespect to pirlo, but we are in dire need of creativity in the final third.

give locatelli someone with half a brain and a prototype linking the mid to attack and we would be so much better than another pirlo with a Mckennie variant ‘linking’ the attack

Dude. Not any deep lying playmaker; Pirlo FFS. He would single handedly make us dominate games immediately. Something De Bruyne can only dream of. That's why one of those will always be mentioned in a list of the greatest midfielders ever and the other is still trying to reach his first champions final for one of the richest clubs in the mtf world. And I'm saying this as a Belgian.

What a comparison. De Bruyne gets our best midfielder as a partner and Pirlo gets McKennie :lol3:... Every Juve midfield for next season includes Loca, whatever role the incoming guy plays.

Honest question; how old are you?

But we are drifting off topic. There's two ways to go with this team. With Dybala or without him. With him the 4-3-2-1 or 4-2-3-1 are probably the only options. Without him 4-3-3 is the most obvious formation.

lmao dude you are so blinded by nostalgia, we would have way more possesion with pirlo FACT

however what good is the possesion if pirlo is behind our side cms, infront of the opponent box who’s playing deep af? As good as pirlo was even he has limitations when the opposition team is parking the bus.

de bruyne is a DEMON in the final third combining hard running with passing combinations, dribbling, crossing, and long range shooting.

he is the PROTOTYPE attacking midfielder

Also he already reached a UCL final and only lost bcuz pep thinks he’s some visionary coach and deploys stupid tactics in big games.

We already have a conductor in locatelli, what we need is just one more midfielder with a brain flanking him, and a good attacking mid who can cover ground and link play.

I’m 24, get with the times old man.

you sound like one of those old farts in serie a who won’t let go of their dinosaur tactics and mentality

Wowie, again with the weakness there, ciao.

PS: dominating has little to do with possession for me.

Wowie, classy. Ciao, kiddo.
Lemme guess you’re probably satisfied with the painfully slow non creative football we’re playing rn huh lol

times have changed. Pace and stamina matter way more now. Either we adapt or we die.

chiesa is such a breath of fresh air as well as vlahovic.. know why? Pace and physicality combined with technical abilities

You just clearly need to research the roles 'fantasista' and 'regista'. The definition doesn't mention they need to be slow and lack physicality. Heck, Messi and Neymar would be labelled fantasisti in Italy but I guess they're outdated now at PSG, right? @Chapin

Well, Messi definitely is. But probably more from being old and maybe uninterested at PSG. Moise Kean has more goals than him in Serie A than Messi does in Ligue 1. :p

Neither messi or neymar have ever operated behind two strikers.

they are simply 2 world class wing forwards
